hello to ya'll,
i'm new here so take it easy on me, if i am doing this all wrong.....if ya'll don't mind. i'd appreciate your insight/feedback/help on my issues though....
i own two p238's. one is the original version the nitron finish with the aluminum frame and plastic grips. in other words the cheapest model they make/made. the 2nd one is the hd version all stainless slide, frame, etc.
i have had rust issues that i've never had before. granted i live in florida and i do conceal carry these, daily...but i also cc a kel-tec and it hasn't rusted yet.
the original cheapo nitron finished one the barrel has rusted already. now i clean these and oil them about once a week or two weeks. to clarify the outside exposed part in the middle of the slide. the top of that piece of barrel has no nitron finish on it or whatever and it's rusted. removing the rust was tough to say the least, but now i am forced to coat that part of the barrel almost 2-3 times a week with oil to keep it from rusting again. i have used typically break free clp and sometimes weapons shield on it. the weapons shield seems to do better but not if something rubs on it and absorbs the oil away...then it rusts again. when i say rust i mean rust...not a few speckles...just to clarify.
i also own a p238hd and it has rusted already as well, but on the stainless frame, not the barrel. same thing applies to use and oils used, etc. this one is more like speckling though than heavy surface rusting.
so i have searched all over the internet to see if anyone else is suffering from these rusting problems with their p238's or if it's just me? i've found nothing. so this lead me to here. so after my long rambling to set the stage.......has anyone else heard of these problems or have it themselves with a sig p238 pistol?
i have decided to try some new (to me) anti rust products..the corrosion x i hear good things about and the eenoz however it's spelled deal and see if that helps?
now to my other question..the hd had already been back under the recall for the bad heat treatment or soft steel used on the slide problem, but when it came back repaired the slide is much larger than the old one or maybe i never paid enough attention to it and it was laways that way, but either way i cannot use the holsters i have for my other p238 for it.
so does anyone know who stocks or makes a good quality hoslter to fit the p238hd...and i don't really want to wait a year to have a super one built or one of those uncle mikes off the rack that fits 50 pistols, but none well type of holsters. i just need a decent pocket holster like my other one i use on the p238...but to fit a hd version. although i'd really like two a pocket and a nice paddle type. thank you for your suggestions and for tolerating my ramblings to get this far, if indeed you did.
