I got the call from the local dealer that my X-Ten came in and was waiting for me, but also that the 365 Spectre Comp I had inquired about was there as well.

The comp'd 365 seems to have a lot of people talking, it is not an inexpensive CC pistol - same price as my Legion 229. Then there's the issue of using compensated pistols for defense, they have their pros and cons, things to consider.

I'm no stranger to compensated pistols, my open guns have them, but the Sig approach to the Spectre is refreshingly simple. No attachment to worry about, no front sight on it. Just milling to the slide.

I only had time for 100 rounds yesterday, but the little Spectre proved to be a nice shooter. I don't know if Sig does anything to the trigger, but it has a really nice snap of a reset and clean break. Much easier to shoot faster than my X/XL are.

Accuracy was excellent as well, I'd focused on that before some testing of the comp itself - rapid fire. This is where a compensator shines, the ability to keep the nose down while firing quickly and so far, with just 115gr through it - it does indeed allow for quicker follow up shots than the other 365s.

It doesn't have the 2lb trigger of a race gun, but it does indeed prove to function as advertised. Much more testing to come, but so far I like it.

Which option is the better tradeoff between the higher muzzle velocity of the longer XL barrel vs the shorter barrel with compensated?

We're talking 0.5" of barrel length which equates to maybe 20-40 FPS. So, there isn't really much velocity lost, and with a bad breath distance pistol..I don't think it's all that relevant. Depending on the volume and burn rate of the powder - you might not lose any velocity at all.

They are a neat option for sure, I like the frame texture over the original 365 frames.

Comp might be pretty cool with the smaller gun, though I don’t find the XL to be hard to control and shoot fast. Then again, the comp can only help for that.

Nice pistol! I do like that they let you keep the rear sight with an optic, should you want, I wish my XL allowed that.

Me too. In fact, I like the grip module more than the compensated slide...haha. It's very comfortable, didn't slip around at all in the humid indoor range the other day.
