Modifying Sig P365 10 rd Magazine Floorplate for Comfort

My P365 originally came with 12 rd magazines. I soon replaced the P365 grip module with the taller P365XL grip module. But it seemed likely I would have occasions where I needed to pocket carry, so I got a 10 rd flush fit magazine and a 10 rd magazine with a pinky extension to use with the shorter P365 grip module.

I tried them both AND I HATED THEM! They were uncomfortable to the point of almost being painful when I tightly gripped my pistol. It's obvious to see why. The sides of the magazines have sharp 90° corners. The lower rear of the grip module has about a 120° sharp angle. The front lip of the flush fit magazine digs into my little finger. The magazine with the pinky extension wasn't any better. The 90° corners on the sides of the magazine are also more likely to print. WHAT was Sig thinking? By comparison, the Ruger LC9 actually added some radius to the floorplate of their magazines that would make them more comfortable

A bit of wet sanding to radius the front lip and the bottom side edges of the floorplate made a huge improvement in comfort. I also sanded a radius into that 120° angle on the lower rear of the handgrip. Now it actually feels comfortable enough to shoot. The magazine floorplate no longer prints so badly.

I have radiused both my P365 grip module and magazine floorplates as well as my P365XL grip module and MagGuts floorplate. A little bit of elbow grease made a huge improvement in comfort for me.

Also note that I cut off the manual safety lever on the right side in order to better fit certain holsters and reduce printing. Even if I need to shoot left handed I can still actuate the safety lever on the left side with my left thumb or index finger.

This is nice work. These edges don't hurt my hands when I shoot, but I'm sure I'd benefit from reduced printing. I may try this. Again, nice work!

Hand width and finger length can make a huge difference in the comfort of a particular gun. Just like shoes, one size does not fit all. I have very long fingers and I would prefer the trigger to be at least 3/4" further forward. But in a micro compact size, compromises must be made in order to fit the parts inside the pistol, and we must adapt to the gun as best we can.
