Are there any current or recently past auto's that are made in the style of the old Walther P38?

Also, how old does a P38 have to be to qualify as C&R?

Thanks.

I believe its 50 years or older to be considered C&R ... I would confirm that fact as I am not positive.

I think that all the P38 variants are C&R, but that doesn't do much for you in California anyway, except that they don't have to be on the "Not unsafe handgun" list.

I have a P1. I like it.

A number of new Berettas are "made in the style" of the P38, with an open slide. The slides of the Berettas are longer, though, WRT the barrel length.

I think Erma Werke made a .22 that resembled a P-38; not real sure but it might have the Model PX88. Other than that, the only others that i can think of are the P-1 and the P-4.

I don't want to offend any Croatians out there, but that is one weird looking pistol. It kind of looks like one team of designers worked on the slide, and another team worked on the frame, and the only time they met, was when they were going to actually start production on the gun.

Actually what it looks like is the late war experiments with low cost versions of the P-38.

I have a p38 my dad "captured" in Germany in the last days of WWII.
One day in the early 90s he managed to put a 9mm hole in his bedroom floor with it and handed it to me shortly thereafter. I have not fired it myself in over 20 years but it's cleaned and lubed regularily. I should get it out and see how it does on paper targets but I would hate for anything to happen to it.

It means more to me than money and I would never part with it but how to I verify it's vintage? What is C&R?

Thanks,
Mark

Curios and Relics, in another words antiques

an, FAL, AK are, and M16 will soon be designs with in the C&R time frames. and if it wasnt for the NFA they would be CR...

9mm out of a p38 will kill ya just as quick as a 9mm from a glock
