What's the difference again?

My local shop had one labeled as P7 M8 but for all I know it might have been the PSP one. Wasn't a bad price too, just a bit more than it would be from Wildalaska (but with a layaway option available!) But it looks like the PSP that have been imported (flooded) since it had the same PW Arms, Redmond WA on the left side. The guy didn't know, and the owner wasn't there at the time, he said they just showed up in the case this week.

"Slightly smaller slide so might not fit P7M8 holsters securely
Doesn't have trigger/heat shield (not at all important)
No loaded chamber indicator
European heel mag release
Magazines are different
Different sights from P7M8, will need to be machined to use P7M8 tritiums, adjustables, etc.
Availability of replacement parts questionable
No factory support from H&K because these are secondary market imports"

Guess that's it then! Should have re-read the Love Affair thread...

I still want one though! Think I prefer the M8, non heel release version though.

--P7M8 has a USP-style American mag release, PSP has a heel mag release.

--P7M8 has a longer trigger guard and a plastic heat shield at the bottom of the frame under the gas cylinder, PSP has a short trigger guard and no heat shield.

--P7M8 has a striker assembly bushing for fast striker removal, PSP does not.

--P7M8 has a wide serrated trigger, PSP has a narrow smooth trigger.

--P7M8 has a rib on the underside of the frame that goes from the front of the trigger guard all the way to the front of the frame, the PSP lacks this rib.

--P7M8 and PSP use different magazines due to their different magazine release locations.

--P7M8 and PSP have different sight cuts in the slide.

If anyone wants to get even more confused, the original was called the PSP pistol followed-up by the P7 pistol. The P7 pistol was renamed the P7/PSP upon introduction of the P7M8 in order to distinguish it between this newer pistol model. Your refurb/trade-ins are some variation of this P7/PSP.

The P7-P7/PSP can actually come with a variety of different minor/cosmetic differences such as different-sized triggers, differently knurled take-down buttons and different-sized heel magazine releases. I believe that grips may also look /be marked differently.

I've had a P7M8 for the past few years, so I too decided to get one of the German Border Patrol imports. It arrived last Friday, so I was able to play with it over the weekend. Put 100 rounds downrange, shooting at 10 and 15 yards. Very accurate, 100% reliable and a blast to shoot, just like my M8. The only real difference is the mag release in the heal, which I actually like more for CCW. Now I have to get a good holster for it.

i have both the PSP (bought when they first came into the country, $400, and marked"P&") and the M8 (couple of years ago, $600, from century arms)

the major differences are the sights, trigger guard, mag releases and striker takedown...the only real improvment IMO is the sriker assembly

the PSP is jsut a sleeker and neater package..it's proportions are just prettier without the budges of the higher /fatter sights or trigger guard. the worst are the mag releases...we're talking major poke in the side here (funny because the de-cocking lever on the hk p9s dosen't poke at all) the M8 striker assembly is easier to pop out...you just need to depress the striler with your thrunb on the PSP

the euro mag release of the PSP is slower but just dds to the clean lines
