Chris - OK well, for now let's think Thurs or Fri pm ... meaning noon latest. Can you PM Brian yourself and see if he is interested? ....cos that would be something to tie up re your travel etc.

Dave, Ray ... Thurs or Fri (keeping weather options open for now) .... any good?

Chris , for the spring thing , I can probably arrange to get the range up here to ourselves , the only glitch would be the shape of the access road come spring  .

Vitamin G being the new guy to the group will have to buy the ammo for the spring fling :neener:

just kiddin

I'll be off all day friday the 31st , but will have to be back for the evening family thing. Could also handle blowing out early thursday for a noonish arrival at your place. Weather dependant of course, it snows , I gotta work.

Anapex , Dave right? the pin shoot is doable with about any 22 semi pistol, I did ok with iron sights on a brand spankin new Buckmark, first time I ever shot it or the pins, not a top scorer but good enough to have alot of fun. 22/45's , mark II's and S&W 22a's ( and a 41 or so) were all accounted for among the guys ang gal ! We could "gun share" as only 2 at a time shoot. I'll leave this up to Chris to work out with you as I am his guest at these shoots (till I join myself).

Ray

Ray - that is a possible for a Spring deal - tho as you say, the access is a tad tricky. Other thing I was thinking too - was how easy or not a range would be for strangers to an area. Even the Hollidaysburg would be great to get for a shoot - tho again - not too easy to find ... thing there tho would be all the fixtures already on calendar.

We'll have a chat on this and see what could work best.

Re end of next week - well I'd reckon we should be OK for the ''usual'' range - but choice of day? Well ... Maybe see if the Thursday looks manageable a bit nearer the time? Lot of variables.

As this has become a bit ''fixture'' oriented, will move it over to ''Rallying Point''

Ray: yep it's Dave. What range are the pins at for the shoot? I'll probably have to brush up on my .22 shooting a little if it's further then what I'm used to. I'll probably bring either a P22 or a S&W 422 if I can get it's
problems worked out. Heck I'll probably bring both anyway.

Chris: Either of those are fine with me, whatever works out best for everyone.

I smell a Western PA THR meeting in the spring...
Y'all have anything against an ex- Pittsburgher now captive in NE Ohio joining in?
(I still call a creek a crick if that helps ;))

OK dude - you're OK then! :D

Dave - I'll be in voice contact soon ..... and give you info for range Wednesday. The indoor range there is - hmmm - lemme see - approx 40' I suppose .... so not that long of a distance... 50' tops.

Mike B ..... if you can make it that'd be good. But as I said, yet to establish what availability there is on range space etc. I'll see if I can check this out over next coupla weeks and then let folks know if a date can be made.

Re this next week .... that's Rev', Casey, Anapex, and me .......... Thursday afternoon is what is in mind for now. By early into next week there should be enough info in the forecast to know a bit better what road conditions might be like.

Emailed/PM'd Brian with my number. Thursday still looks good. I'll call to confirm on Wednesday.

Like Ray - watching forecast. Trend does seem to be a tad less cold and probably cloudy - but maybe have better idea in another 24. For now anyways we'll keep the Thurs pm as viable.

Ray knows where range is, and so does Chris ... so that just leaves Dave who has to find it. Hope to see him at bowling pin shoot Weds and then will give him the directions.

Fingers crossed.

I don't have an co-ords handy Chris - never logged it. But I can give you an easy reminder of route from my place ..

If you went past my turn-off (Reed Rd) on R56W .. going past Dollar general ... then 1 mile up to Pleasantville red light - remember, that gas station where we got some food? Take a left at that red light to be on R96S toward New Paris. Approx 4 miles down there (and not all that far after Getty gas station) is the turn into range - with sign ''ChestnutRidge Bow and Gun Club''.

If that still not adequate let me know and I'll try and check out co-ords.

Hopefully the weather will be like it was today. Hit one of the local state game land ranges with some in-laws who hadn't shot for awhile and it was a great day to do it. Hardly any wind and not too cold. So I'm hoping we luck out and the weather is the same Thursday. We'll see though. Here's a list of the stuff I drug up with me too just in case anyone was interested.

AMD-65 parts kit AK clone
Century FAL
Beretta Storm .40sw
Beretta 96 Vertec .40sw
SKS (A couple of them that I needed to test out)
P08 Luger
Springfield 1911
Marlin Camp 45 (It'll need the red dot sighted in)
Walther P22
S&W 422
S&W 1917

Dave, Ray, Chris (and Brian maybe?) .... I think we can shoot for that Thursday afternoon ... the forecast looks like cloudy but a tad less cold - whereas Friday very likely coming in wet.

So let's make that a firm fixture now... (touches wooden objects)

We'll meet up hopefully noon onwards ... that will at least give us a reasonable amount of time to ''play''!

Any requests for me to bring? I'll try and load up some more ammo for BFR, as that is always a blast ... but, anything else?

Watch this space .....

Hopefully the pin shoot will be a bit more accurate for me this week

I'll have my usual suitcase of handguns , Chris I presume will have his suitcase of crew served revolvers, wear the wrist brace boys ~ carpal tunnel will be treated on scene :D

I have no dead computer hardware to destroy at this time, I guess thats a good thing, although that stuff does make for good pictures.

Half day Thursday affirmative , be there 11:30 ~ 12:00

Talk to ya Wed night

Ray

Darn Dave - near missed that post of yours. Hah .. Storm in .40 eh??? Have to have a ''Storm vs Storm match! my 9mm vs your 40. Fal ... good ... we can have some 100 yd fun. I should have my Camp 45 before too long, so will be glad to see and shoot yours a bit.

Sounds like you have some good stuff on board. Good!!

Gus , the group shoot is Thurs afternoon , noon to probably dark thirty.

Some of us local to each other are going to a bowling pin shoot Weds evening , hence the confusion ~ actually planning 2 shoots here.

So if you decide to make the trip it's for Thursday afternoon.

Chris ( hmmm 2 Chris' , have to make up a new nick for P95  ) , got the Buckmark zeroed just after work today in the backyard, after benching it adjusting, shot 5 at a twelve inch high 2 x 4 at fifty feet rapid, 5 for 5 ~ yeehaw!

Ray

Well if it's Thurs dad might be able to come after work, but I can't. I have a Christmas party with Jon's work to go to. Maybe next time.

Ah well. Next time.

It's confirmed. I'm going bye-bye for a while. I can still make this shoot. Then I have to go back to the taxpayers footing the bill of my expensive habits. Dang.

So you can still make then Chris? Great! Sorry you have such a drag of a trip tho but - good on ya if you can do it. I may have some stuff to get done in evening so not sure how much time I'll have spare after we finish ... but, still looks like cloudy and high 40's for weather - I'll take that! :)

I'll try and get to range before noon ... but if you think you'll be over well before, let me know and you can come here first - and we can set off to range together.

Might even have the FAL again! :p In fact - must shoot it cos have moved scope forward a notch, so need to see it's still where it should be. If you still have some .308 spare - bring it - and excercize Mr FAL. :)

Later
