Ever since I tried out a P99, I've been wanting to pick one up. Skunkabilly, however, tells me that I should wait for the new HK P2000 because it will match the rest of my HKs better

Has anyone here had experience w/ both? Should I wait?

HK is notorious for loooong waits, so i wouldn't go holding my breat for a P2000. on the other hand, if your luck is like mine as soon as you buy the P99 the P2000 will come out the next week.

Get the P99............dont waste your time or money on the p2000, just a copy of the P99.........

Let's see.. I had a Walther P99 and sold it..

Likes...
It Looked awesome
It was 100% reliable
It was easy to field strip
It was easy to shoot well
It felt great in my hand ( like it was custom molded)
The loaded chamber indicator
Interchangeable backstraps
Interchangeable front sights
All the controls worked flawlessly
Came in a cool handgun case with molded foam inserts

Dislikes...
Decocker button on the slide was an awkward reach for this lefty.
The factory sight weren't very good
The DA trigger was well, horrible ( I didn't have the patience to wait until it got better) The DA trigger pull was loooooooong.
Bottom of the trigger would bite the "edge" of my trigger finger
That ski ramp thingy under the trigger..
The high price of factory Hi caps.. ( $100 each, OUCH!)

Again, these are just my personal observations, you results may vary.
I'm going to wait for the P2000... and wait ... and wait. ;)

Here's another option. I can get another USPc and have Bruce Gray do one of his trigger jobs on it....hmmmmm :scrutiny:

I wonder if I'll make up my mind before the P2000's get into CA?

Well....consider this...it is a posibility that the introduction of the P2000 may lower the price of the P99...so maybe you should wait...who knows.

Quote from RSR on a HK P2000 is $809 (wholesale!). Don't think any competitor has anything to worry about.

Heckler & Koch should really rethink their prices on these things.:scrutiny: Wow, $809 wholesale is crazy. You can pick up new USP twotones (both the USPc .40 & USP 9mm fullsize) at CDNN for $629.00!!!

Heck, used USP's (in excellent condition) can be found starting at $399.00. I might just pick up a used USP as a beater HK and hold off on the P2000 for awhile..

I still can't get over the $809 wholesale price of the P2000..:barf:

seriously? what is so great about the gun? i mean , to me , its the best looking gun that HK has made........but thats because its a p99 copy..........whats the deal? is it a laser gun?

Just imagine.. You can snag up a H&K USP .45 Tactical from Bugs- N-Bullets for a little over $850!!!

I might just go with the Tac and get a P2000 when the prices start to fall..:uhoh: :banghead:

C'mon guys did you expect them to keep costs down when the P2000 has that gold firing pin in it and gold-reinforced polymer frame? :D

Man I hope it doesn't sell for that high.

I wouldn't believe that price figure, unless H&K already has enough police and military contracts for this thing that a commercial flop could be shrugged off.

[sarcasm mode on] Maybe the P2000 really will be the replacement to the P7M8 and it's just adopting their pricing structure [sarcasm mode off] :D

Get the P99, why pay twice as much for a pistol that has copied many of the P99's features? If you think P99 decocker is odd, the P2000 decocker is silly.

Yup, if I could get one w/ the LEM & the light trigger w/ shorter reset, I'd be a happ(ier) camper :D :D ;)

I handled the P2000 extensively at the Shot Show. It has the absolute worst trigger pull of any handgun that I have ever
held. Felt like 20 pounds! I was planning on getting a P2000 to go along with with my P99- not anymore!

What Trabuco might be referring to is the heavy '2nd strike' trigger. That does leave something up for Bruce Gray's attention :)
