Does anyone own a Pac-Lite Mark II upper? Please comment. I know a couple of fellas on here have expressed the desire to own one, but I'm not sure if anyone's made the leap yet.

I was just looking at specs listed on the Ruger and Tactical Solutions (makers of the Pac-Lite) websites, and I was amazed to find that the 10" bull barreled version of the Pac Lite only 32 ounces, while Ruger's 4.75" skinny barreled pistol weighs 35. :what:

If you own or have fired a Pac-Lite, please post with your comments.

Two friends hereabouts have 'em, so far. Not much of a database for you, but both of them have run perfectly to this point. They do make the guns feel unearthly light..which is pretty cool.

I don't own one, but I shot one a few weeks ago. Brian D. was right, it was unearthly light. It was the 10" and so light that I think it affected my ability to hold steady. However, with the red dot, off bags, the ammo it liked best ( T-22 IIRC) would group 10 in about 2 1/2 inches at 50 yds. Not by me, but I'm not anyone's Ransom rest.
Also, it got attention. Blue with silver flutes - very avant garde.

found your thread here whiteknight. one of the things i forgot to mention in my pm was that out of 50rds fired i had 1 malf; a misfire .also see your interested in pairing one with a mk2. imho not a good idea due to steel lower defeating one iof the big bennies of paclite light weight. 22/45 is the way to go.however ymmv,:) i most def like my system tho

I ordered 2 of them right after I saw the magazine article and after playing with them I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these uppers. One was a 6" fluted and one was the 4" unfluted and threaded to work with my P-22 suppressor. They are both extremely accurate and the machine work is fabulous! The assembled gun with the Pac-Lite upper weighs less than the 6" SS Ruger upper alone. They also come with adjustable sights installed which were dead-on out of the box. No malfunctions of any kind with probably a dozen different types of ammo.

mine is a 3"custom unfluted in black anodized. im completely crazy about
these uppers .they sell themselves quite well. today i put 300plus rds thru
mine at 75'. the only malfs were 3 ftf with rem yellow jackets, then when the weapon had about 200rds thru it i had a few ftf but for the most part it fed
rem gold bullet wally world pretty darn good. also got a guy and a girl hooked on it i figured id have trouble getting it back. my shooting buddy is going to order one with a 8"barrel and scope mount. btw may i say im envious of your can possesion. in missouri we cant have cans:( id move but we just passed ccw and if we can get blunt in (progun gov canidate)maybe we can get cans so ill stick.

Does anyone have a website with pics? I have a 22/45 that might take kindly to one of these uppers.

Does anyone have any bull barrelled uppers available? Since many of you have Pac lite replacements, anyone want to get rid of one? Im looking for a Ruger Mark II or 22/45 Upper. Ill take any length but it must be a bull barrel. Please let me know what you have and the price shipped to my FFL in 91719. Email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

I own and have shot my Pac-Lite upper. I have it mounted on my Ruger Mark II. My version is the 4.5" Bull Barrel model with threads. The quality is great and it shoots great as well. It mounts just fineon my Ruger and works well with my suppressor.

Collier, did you have any trouble mounting the upper on your reciever? I've heard that sometimes it's a mighty tight fit.

What are your overall impressions? How is the finish? Which color did you get? Did you notice any increase/decrease in accuracy?

Did you order the upper directly from Tactical Sol or did your FFL order it? Did you get it drilled and tapped?

BTW anyone who owns a Pac-Lite - I'd love to hear your responses to these questions also!

WhiteKnight - I have the Target Version of the Mark II. It is an accurate pistol with the factory barreled receiver. The only problem I had installing the Pac-Lite unit was getting my Ruger top end off. As far as installing the Pac-Lite, it went on fine without issue. It is a nice tight fit.

The construction of the unit is top notch. My unit, the 4.5" bull barrel does not have flutes and it is not drilled/tapped for a scope mount. It came with adjustable sights and was threaded.

I shot approximately 100 rounds through it trying to find out which ammo it shot best. Fortunately for me out of the 6 different brands I tried, it liked the cheapest ammo best (i.e. it shot the tightest groups using this ammo). I believe it liked the Federal red box stuff (if memory serves). Overall, if I had a cheap MarkII, I know the Pac-Lite would shoot rings around it. However, since I have the Target slab side version, I would say it is about as accurate. The reason I bought it was to have another platform to use my SWR Omega Suppressor on.

I bought mine locally here from a dealer.

Hope that helps. I'll see if I can take some pictures of it this weekend.

I'd love to see pictures BTW.

I've already purchased a standard Mark II lower from an RFC member, now I'm just trying to decide on which Pac-Lite to buy.

As of now I think I'm going to go with the 6" barrel length in matte black.
