I'm probably going to have to make a quick one-day trip up the coast, from Florida through Georgia and S.C.to pick up my daughter in North Carolina. I don't have a Florida concealed carry permit, so I was perusing the Packing.org site to try to see what kinds of things I need to be alert to.
My main problem is that I really don't get all the legal jargon that goes along with the site. Since my main focus isn't obtaining a permit in the various locales, I don't need all the information there on how to apply, etc. Is there anybody who can 'splain the legal mumbo-jumbo in plain English?
For instance, I understand that once I get to N.C., I have to have my handgun in plain sight (i.e. on the dashboard), or locked up with the key not readily accessable (i.e. not in the lock). I'm pretty sure also that N.C. is an open carry state. Does that apply to non-residents? Can anybody carry openly? And what are the laws for vehicular travel through Georgia and South Carolina?
If anybody can help, I'd really appreciate it!
