Sorry if it is a repost but I saw this and could not get over it .. I think this may be the model video of how NOT to treat/use firearms .. It was very hard to watch .. Watch how he clears the gun after being in the mud .. Incredible..

Here is a picture of the guy clearing it:

Thats the proper way to clear the jam.

Whats wrong with the video? Looks like a fun time. :)

Oh yes I bet it was a really fun time .. And an expensive time!! I just couldn't get over the way he cleared the jam..

Thats how we were taught to clear a jam, usually with a weapon with a longer barrel, but thats the way. How would you have done it?

Who is "we" and who taught you to shoot a weapon then seconds later point it at your head and kick the bolt carrier?! I would have had it pointed in a safe direction (not my head) and hit the bolt carrier with something .. Notice that there are still live rounds in it after he kicks it .. He shoots it soon after .. Could have been REALLY bad

Those I was taught to shoot with by those doing the teaching. :)

Weapons usually have live rounds in them when you shoot them. Sometimes they have stoppages, usually at the worst moment, and if you have a weapon like the AK, M14, M1, FAL, etc, anything with a charging handle like that, thats the proper way to get it back into action.

You probably wont like the M16's version either. :)

If it makes you squeamish, dont do it.

I really hope there aren't people out there teaching someone to point a gun toward their head while trying to clear a jam ..

Its not pointed at your head.

You hold the muzzle away as you do it. If you look, he's doing so, although the angle may give the impression he isnt.

To me it looks like the guy in the video is going for the:

"Honoring those who improve the species...by
accidentally removing themselves from it!"

AK103K : Point taken .. Although I don't clear my AK that way.. Some people may find it perfectly fine ..

I refuse to believe that is a good way to clear a jam .. Sorry fella's but I don't believe you should ever point a loaded gun at or "close" to your head .. Not a good idea ..

That's also the only way to expeditiously clear a jam like that with my SKS
They lock up fairly tight

As a reloader, all i can do is cry.... I bet they didn't pick up half of those casings.

If that were me, I would go out and buy a whole bunch of Wolf for something like that. Man, I have to say that I am jealous; that looks like more fun than I've had in ages.

Looks like a really fun afternoon. That was standard drill for an AK jam - they are incredibly tough weapons. Enjoyed the pics of the PKM, it is a superb LMG but is normally fired from the prone position using the built-in bipod.

Unless those guys were using "in ear" hearing protection they are heading for future problems.

Another way to clear it...

Actually, the handbook that came with my CMP Garand specifically warns NOT to clear a jam that way, saying, with masterful understatement, "that leaves the muzzle too close to your head for safety."

What it says to do, and this works - I've done it, is to sqaut down, place the butt of the rifle on a firm surface and the ball of your thumb on the charging handle, then, keeping contact with the handle, pick up the rifle about 6 inches and jam it back down to the ground. The jolt, combined with the momentum of your right hand pressing down on the handle will break the jam.

The nice thing is that you keep control of the bolt through the whole process. Makes a slam-fire much less likely.

Holy Schickies!! ... those guys have awesome guns. How did they get the UMP? Isnt that a fairly new gun?

EDIT: Nevermind.. I read the comment there.

They shot the hell out of that PKM. They probably went through more ammo there than i do in an entire year.

tnieto2004, no, it's not incredible. As AK stated, kicking open a bolt is one solution to a frozen weapon.:) This technique was taught in Big Army of multiple nations for several decades.

If you learned a different method, please share the technique and the school which teaches it.
