Paper Cartridges

I roll my own tobacco, so i have a lot of papers to play with.

I was thinking of starting with the gummed end around the front surface of the ball to hold it in, creating a tube.... fill and twist at the end.

I also have a large gauge canvas cigarillo roller... i wonder if i could twist one up just like a small cigar !?!

Rodwha, just mix enough acetone till it disolves the powder, if you get too much it wont take long for some to evaporate. I havnt experimented a lot with it yet, but from what i have it does burn the paper up a lot better. May only need to do the bottom part of the paper even. From what i have read the paper loads issued to CW soldiers always used a conical, not a round ball.I havnt tried rolling any with a conical yet but i can see where they would be easier. I think the original ones used nitrated paper. Do a search and you should find something on how to do that method too. I just wish i could see how thick the paper was on the CW cartridges. I have a feeling they must have been a lot heavier paper that a gig rolling paper but i dont know.If you could use a heavier nitrated paper of some sort it would sure be easier to get one in the chamber without tearing them. My son has been useing the smokless powder acetone stuff on cotton string this morning to make fuses for home made smoke bombs he is making. That seems to work great for a fuse. I need to try makeing some diffrent size tapered dowels to roll on now till i get one right that can hold a conical and 30 grs powder and still be easy to get in the chamber without busting open.

From what I've read the cheaper Tops/Bugler papers are thicker and sometimes don't work well. Use thin paper.
I experimented with several brands, and I think I've finally settled on Buglers.

I can't say that I've had an issue of a misfire or a hangfire with cigarette paper cartridges since I switched. (Although to be fair, I don't roll cartridges for most of my shooting, so I haven't shot through more than a couple packs of Buglers.)

I use Gatofeo's lube on my bullets, as well as on my wads. Would this, or any other BP lube, contaminate my powder in a paper cartridge? They can be awaiting use for upwards of 2 months, maybe even longer, though typically not more than 2 weeks I'd guess.

The best way to answer that question is to try it...

You've already got the materials, and you are already rolling your own. You could try it and see.

You might also ask if you really need the lube to begin with...
