I usually use 8 1/2 x 11 paper as well, printing off free targets online. However, I do shoot paper plates as well, especially for practicing self defense shooting (close range, unholstering shots, shooting on the move, etc.). I like shooting at an "area" instead of a bulleye in those kind of situations. Most bg's don't have a "bull eye" for me to identify, but they do have an area I can aim at. Sometimes I staple one for a "head" and then three together for a chest sized target.
