Hello folks.

I am planning to get...I am going to purcahse a Para GI Expert. I already have a Taurus PT1911 in blued and have been very happy with it. I know you cannot go wrong with Para 1911. I was drawn to it for its feel, weight, looks and PRICE! I am hoping to use it as a range gun and a carry gun, since it is much lighter than my Taurus.

Why would one person purchase a stainless steel version over a blued or vice versa?

Thanks.

Do a internet search on Para finishes. It seems in my internet travels that finishes are weak point for Para.

I prefer blue, especially for a 1911, but if I were looking at a Para, I'd concentrate on the stainless versions.

The GI Expert isn't available in a blued finish, only stainless or "Para-Kote", but this thread is kinda old so nevermind...

I don't personally like either blued or stainless 1911s. I would get the blued simply because it can be stripped and then at least parkerized.

I just prefer black...

If the price difference is not excessive (say, over a Benjamin), given the choice between the two I would rather have stainless for a "working" gun. Non-reflective finishes are overrated, IMO. Actually, if not highly polished, stainless is not all that reflective.
