Picked this up today at a very nice price. .45 ACP, 3" Match-Grade bull barrel, 2-stage captured recoil spring, Novak sights, 6+1 capacity and the weirdest DAO mechanism I've ever felt. The trigger breaks like snapping a glass rod at something between 3.5-5lbs. At 24 ounces it's not a lightweight, but with a proper holster it will be easy to carry. A DAO 1911 may seem like an answer to a question no one was asking, but it's a good answer.

At the range this afternoon it performed flawlessly through a couple boxes of Freedom Munitions 230gr. CPHPs; accurate with quick follow-up shots. The trigger is surprisingly easy to adapt to. 7-yard RF group-

I can see a bright future for this piece as an EDC...

I'm a double-action shooter almost exclusively, and only recently acquired my first 1911, to be used as a shooter and not for carry. However, I have another one, a commander-type, coming that may actually get used for carry.

I'd gladly carry something like that LDA. To me, it could very well be the best of three worlds (platform, trigger mechanism, and caliber.)
