for some reason unbeknownst to me, i've been bent on getting a 41 mag for quite some time. i haven't been looking hard, but have been keeping my eye open in case one comes along. there's only one gun show in the area per year, and dealers don't have 41's in very often, being as most buyers would rather have the much more popular 44 or 357...
anyway, today i found one... it is a single action ruger in lnib condition (i thought it was new until he pointed out to me that it was used). the dealer is asking $300... first, is this a fair price? second, i was kind of set on a 7.5 - 8" barrel, and this one is only 6.5". does the extra 1-2" in barrel length really make enough difference in velocity that i should continue looking?
the gun will be scoped and used for deer hunting, if that makes any difference...
thanks for any input.
