Who here is already using GunPal?

I just set up my free account but I haven't used it yet. Anyone have any experience with this site yet and care to comment?

http://www.gunpal.net

For those unfamiliar here's the description from GunPal's website:
GUNPAL is an alternative to PayPal™ that donates a portion of the proceeds from every transaction to a Non-Profit Organization of your choice. GUNPAL does not discriminate based on the nature of your transaction, requiring only that the merchandise or services you buy and sell be legal.

Opened an account. I'll use them exclusively.

I've always been afraid of the stories I've read about funds being seized because of a 'gun related' transaction. I just don't want that hanging over my head if I want to buy a holster or something.

I don't like it already. You can't find out what the percentage rates are until you sign up. I hate it when unknown websites asking for your bank account and personal info offer no information until after you sign up. Make sure you check with oleg before putting anything important into their database.

And they donate a portion of EVERY transaction to a charity of your choice. Started by a Pro-gun sportsmen, who is ACTIVE in the 2nd Amendment fights going on in the courts.

As long as they don't play the games that paypal does I'm in. Paypal/Ebay plays right along with scammers and when things go awry they keep money indefinitely in their account earning interest.

Example: I had somebody buy a camera from me on Ebay only turning out to be a scammer who stole the credit card. The transaction was verified and everything from Paypal. Days after Paypal
realized what they did they wanted me to be the one responsible although the scammer had my camera, the stolen card person had their card company refund the $$ back and I had the money in my
bank for the camera I sold. Basically Paypal had allowed the scam to go through and in the end they were out the money. They(billion dollar company) were scammed and were trying to pass the buck onto me.

They froze my account so I said keep it frozen and while you are it put it far back in the deep freezer because I'm never touching it again.
Hopefully this Gunpal doesn't let $$ signs go to their head and they start the same shenanigans.

I have used it and the site does function well. The owners are also very responsive to problem and to fixing them (beta tested the site).

However, I can see some of the areas still needing improvement that only comes with more age, customer experience, development, and fire. This comes from someone who has used PayPal for over ten years

I fully expect GUNPAL to mature into a payment system to directly better all of the features offered on PayPal in a much quicker period of time. In the meantime I am a happy user of GUNPAL.

Hi everyone, I'm the Chairman/CEO of GUNPAL, Inc. Longtime THR participant/lurker. While I can't promise I will respond to every request, I do believe in being in-touch with my customers, so please feel free to reach out!

I look forward to growing the company, scaling the support and admin tasks in a responsible manner (we will be hiring soon :), and taking business away from gun-hostile eBay/PayPal. ;)

Best!
-Ben.

we will be hiring soon , and taking business away from gun-hostile eBay/PayPal

Too bad you're in Cali, I'd be first in line to apply. I'll open an account and drop PayPal.

Hey,

Can I put you guys on my shopping cart for my online store? Normally I could do the same with paypal, but paypal doesn't like bullets. Also, you need a different rotating banner. It is really really lame and it has nothing to do with guns. Also, looking at the fee schedule it appears as though 2.8% is good, but I sell a lot more than just $10 a month. Paypal offers discounts depending on how much you use them. For example, I think they go down to 2.5% if you do more than 10k a month. Does gunpal offer the same?

Best wishes to GunPal. I bet if you guys could get some relationship with the gun action sites, you would not only flourish, but the protection for buyers and sells there would be great for the customers.

I hope Flea-Bay and PayPal go bankrupt for their political correctness.

You just didn't look in the right spot. You gonna use Paypal instead?
Oleg is on the Board of Advisors as well as a lot of well-known pro-gun guys, pretty certain it is legit.

Big Brother is looking down on you and they are gonna get you if you sign up....better not do it:rolleyes:

Looks like Reuters did an article on them Tuesday:

GUNPAL, Inc.: The First Serious Competitor for PayPal Inc.

HEALDSBURG, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "GUNPAL, Inc. is a
transaction-neutral online payment platform with a philanthropic spirit,"
announces Founder/CEO Ben Cannon. "It is also the first serious competitor for
PayPal Inc."

A percentage of each transaction is donated to a selected charity at no
additional cost to the user. The initial list of organizations includes the
American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and the Supercomputing Disease
Research Center. Users can also suggest charities for consideration.

An avid supporter of constitutional rights, Cannon created a
discrimination-free online payment application, starting with the recognition
of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Prohibited by PayPal's "Acceptable Use Policy", the $3 billion firearms and
accessories industry has adopted GUNPAL as the payment platform of choice.
"Firearms can only be sold by licensed dealers. GUNPAL is more convenient than
other forms of payment as its comprehensive transaction tracking system is
secure and reliable for our audits," says Mitchel Chapman of WBtactical.com, a
licensed firearms dealer.

An estimated one hundred million firearm owners nationwide now have a platform
with which they can trade ammunition, scopes, and other accessories securely
and hassle-free. As a socially responsible company, GUNPAL directs its
firearm buyers to government documentation on current firearm laws and
regulations and will provide licensed dealer listings by buyers' zip codes in
a future release. Having dominated the firearms niche, GUNPAL is already
targeting other under-served markets with several new projects under way.

With every line of code written in-house, most of the engineering effort has
been dedicated to fraud prevention. GUNPAL's unique anti-fraud and
anti-phishing systems take a finer-toothed comb through customer data for
maximum privacy and security. Reduced fraud cuts operating costs resulting in
lower fees for most common transactions as compared to PayPal. Cannon's first
company, GeoVario, LLC, was the natural choice for web-hosting services.

Founded in 2004, GUNPAL is a transaction-neutral online payment system that
allows easy transfer of funds to anyone with an email address. Privately
funded, GUNPAL has revolutionized the transfer of money with its
pro-constitutional voice, unique anti-fraud approach, and philanthropic
spirit. The company is expected to expand its services internationally in the
near future.

Excellent! I hope it becomes as widely accepted as Paypal and puts them out of business!

While I totally approve of the concept behind this company, I'm feeling a bit like I should put on my tinfoil hat; a site dedicated to transacting nationwide firearms payments would be one of the first places to get a subpoena for the database of customers when the black helicopters start to fly. What can legally be done to keep this information out of the hands of our friendly Govt bureaucrats? Anything?

Paranoia may have been the 20th century disease, but so for this century it seems to be a basic survival tool.

This isn't for just buying firearms and gear. This is for buying EVERYTHING you ever did using paypal. But without supporting any anti-2A company.

Justin

I like the idea a lot, Gunpal is kind of a silly name though. I liked the "Gearpay" moniker better, too bad that site never took off.

If he REALLY believed in the 2nd amendment he would do this for free! (from another thread ... sorry ... couldn't help myself)

Then it would obviously fail. I rather it actually WORK myself...

Like I said, from another thread where the poster proclaims that if FFL's -really- believed in the 2nd Amendment they would do transfers for free.

I just signed up, BTW.
