Hey all,
I've been checking around in all the usual locations of Mosin info, and I can't find an answer to my question, so I figured I'd call on the esteemed members of THR to help me get an answer.
The information I've seen thus far suggests there was considerable overlap in the manufacture and deployment of the PE and PEM scopes and mounts, as well as the rifles they were used on. Basically, that PE scopes/mounts were being mounted to rifles at the same time as PEM scopes and mounts, and that there was overlap in which scopes were used on which mounts. I think I've seen pics of PEM scopes on PE-style mountes from WWII, but I can't be sure. My question is, was there actually any mixing of scopes and mounts? Could a PE scope have ended up on a PEM base, or visa-versa? Furthermore, were any rifles dating past 1940 outfitted in this manner?
This is all hypothetical, and I'm trying to figure out what configurations existed during the period- possible future project...
Thanks in advance,
-Chris
