About the green gas powered device, are you merely using a tank neck valve, a ball valve, or a momentary open solenoid valve?
No, this is an Airsoft type dealie that shoots airsoft BBs and is remarkably powerful and accurate. I have quite a number of non-powder-actuated "fun guns" with which to compare it.
It also has a lifelike kick to it and is very accurate in terms of appearance and "heft." The gas release into the barrel occurs when the hammer hits a little valve in the slide, which releases the burst of gas --not unlike a C02-powered gun.
The "Green Gas" is propane with silicone lube in it and you fill a reservoir in the magazine from the canister. You
can use any number of propane devices to fill it, such as propane torch tanks and BBQ tanks with an adaptor (of which I have one) but you need to add the silicone lubricant in that case.
This gun has a device in it which provides a backspin to the BB, eliminating the air "pileup" in front of the round ball which destroys accuracy.
Here's the setup (I didn't include the adaptor for regular propane tanks.) You can see a bit of duct tape over the mag floorplate which I use to keep dust out of the fill-valving mechanism down there. The double-stack mag holds about 20 BBs.
Sorry, couldn't eliminate the glare on the propane can in this hastily-set-up picture. ("Jax" is "Jax Sporting Goods," the outfit in Louisville CO I bought it from.)
These propane-powered guns are a bit expensive, but worth every penny in terms of (a) fun and (b) practice value. The slide recoils, locks back on an MT mag, the sights are excellent, and they field strip just like the original. The semi-realistic "kick" occurs when the recoiling slide hits the stops.
This gun keeps its pressure over several weeks, unlike most CO2-powered guns, which have a distinct tendency to leak down over a matter of days.
I am
really pleased with its accuracy and power!
