pellet gun fun

He said he gave it two pumps, so I guess he meant a pellet gun, and that's the thread title.

I was going to talk about my "Green Gas" (propane) powered one. Would that be off-topic or something?

About the green gas powered device, are you merely using a tank neck valve, a ball valve, or a momentary open solenoid valve?

I have found that using a CCI # 10 cap with a drop of superglue on the tip of a pellet it makes a darn nice explosive round. I was using a cheap China made rifle and if it plugged up or blew up I didn't care. I have since picked up one of the Gamo Whisper air rifles that will zip the pellets up to 1200fps, using crossman SSP it is actually as loud as a 22 lr and hits real hard. I have never tried the kitchen match but its got the wheels turning.

I remember as a kid, going out in my dad's old garage that was built with old pine boards, finding a knot hole, and placing a shot shell in it after removing the shot (thank God). Standing back a few feet and shooting, with a air rifle, at the primer until I finally hit it. The primer would come flying back and low and behold if I didn't get hit right above the right eye. Man I bled like a stuck pig. Had a hard time explaining to my mom what had happened:evil::eek:

You guys ever take one of those old Daisy BB guns, unscrew the innards and stick it in the mud, then shoot mud out of it?

I used to just use clay... roll a small ball, shove it down the barrel, and shoot.

Now I just use pellets.... and take out the squirrels that are ruining my neighbor's attic.

Not just mud. Our neighbor had dogs. And didn't scoop real regular. Need I say more?

Didi the OP mean A/S guns or actual pellet guns?

a pump up compressed air powered gun. actually, a sheridan blue streak is what i am using. it also works well in my sons crossman .177 caliber bb / pellet air rifle.

Back to post # 27,

No, this is an Airsoft type dealie that shoots airsoft BBs and is remarkably powerful and accurate. I have quite a number of non-powder-actuated "fun guns" with which to compare it.

It also has a lifelike kick to it and is very accurate in terms of appearance and "heft." The gas release into the barrel occurs when the hammer hits a little valve in the slide, which releases the burst of gas --not unlike a C02-powered gun.

The "Green Gas" is propane with silicone lube in it and you fill a reservoir in the magazine from the canister. You can use any number of propane devices to fill it, such as propane torch tanks and BBQ tanks with an adaptor (of which I have one) but you need to add the silicone lubricant in that case.

This gun has a device in it which provides a backspin to the BB, eliminating the air "pileup" in front of the round ball which destroys accuracy.

Here's the setup (I didn't include the adaptor for regular propane tanks.) You can see a bit of duct tape over the mag floorplate which I use to keep dust out of the fill-valving mechanism down there. The double-stack mag holds about 20 BBs.

Sorry, couldn't eliminate the glare on the propane can in this hastily-set-up picture. ("Jax" is "Jax Sporting Goods," the outfit in Louisville CO I bought it from.)

These propane-powered guns are a bit expensive, but worth every penny in terms of (a) fun and (b) practice value. The slide recoils, locks back on an MT mag, the sights are excellent, and they field strip just like the original. The semi-realistic "kick" occurs when the recoiling slide hits the stops.

This gun keeps its pressure over several weeks, unlike most CO2-powered guns, which have a distinct tendency to leak down over a matter of days.

I am really pleased with its accuracy and power!

The Q Tips fit any 17 Cal barrel. Cut off the plastic stem so that is about 1/4 inch past the cotten ball end. They will screw into the end of a 17 Cal cleaning rod. i use them for cleaning my 17 Cal pellet gun barrels and 17 HM2 amd 17 HMR rifles.

The day I got a scoped daisy pump (bb, pellet, dart) was the day I decided my GI Joes were to be terminated with extreme prejudice. ;)
