I've got a Form 1 for an SBR submitted, and I called today and was told that my application was in pending status since 2/3/10.

I submitted it originally on December 26, 2009, and they cashed my check shortly after the new year. From other times I've seen listed, it seems like once it hits a pending status, you're anywhere from a week to a month and a half away from getting your stamp approved.

But I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea what "pending" means and how that's different from "they cashed my check."

If you have any input on current approval times, that'd be nice to hear as well.

They cashed your check simply to make sure that the money is there. If the check is bad, then the form would get kicked back. Pending simply means that it is in the pile of stuff being worked on. I have a form 4 pending. Check cashed on 1-21. My dealer said between 2 and 3 months from me sending it in to getting the approved papers back in my hand.

It took around 10 or 11 weeks for my suppressor to get approved but I sent in a money order if that makes a diffrence. I plan to get a AR lower registered as a SBR when I go to get my can, I'd like to go with a 7-1/2 inch upper if I can find one that runs good if not I'll go with a 11-1/2 inch.

Things take time. I waited a YEAR for a 90 day transfer. You are dealing with the BATFE, be glad we still can get them.

I just picked up another 9mm can on Saturday. Form three took 14 weeks, Form 4 was a couple days shy of 6 months.

My last transfer took a total of 160 days door to door. It went pending on 8/1/09 and was approved on 10/12/09.

I have a couple more forms in right now. My Form 4 is at 52 days and my Form 1 is at 50 days.

Dealer by me just got back a Form 4 that was 58 days door to door. It all depends on who you have assigned as an examiner. If it is Andrew Ashton you might as well get set for a long wait. Some of his transfers have been 6 months plus.

i've got a mg on form 4 right now transferring to a dealer in my state. So it's going to a dealer, but it's form 4. I don't know whether to expect 20 days or 6 months

Check out this website.

It has postings by people with timelines, examiners, etc. It may help you figure out what type of wait you have ahead of you. It does help if you know the name of the examiner handling the paperwork.

Here is a report from the site showing the average times based on examiner

Dealer just called. My Form 4 is back. From mailed date to today it was 56 days total. Will pick up the suppressor this afternoon.

My Form 4 just came in today. Mailed it out 11-30-09 so that makes 85 days. This was my first time, let the addiction begin.

My latest individual Form 4 (tax-paid transfer from FFL/SOT to me) took 11 days from the time I mailed the forms to when I received the approved Form 4 with affixed tax stamp; my $200 check to ATF just cleared the bank yesterday, almost two weeks later!

I sure hope thats wrong on her. She's got mine and I really hope I don't have to wait another 76 days

It probably varies a lot even for one examiner. Mine says Nickie Dudash and Rob Howard, and was 58 days mailbox to mailbox. That was in 2008, though.

Last two on a trust:
Form 4 - 7 weeks
Form 1 - 6 1/2 weeks

I had one a few years back that took 4 months on a form 4.

My form 4 is over 6 months and it's still pending! I got my form 1 back in under 2 months. I mailed both the same day.
