Im in the market for my first real good scope( 4-12x50). Im looking at the Leupy's, Burris and Nikon . My brain is about to overload and a friend of my tells me about a Pentex, I havent seen much on these scopes so I was wondering could you guys give me some kinda feedback on them , will they stand up to Nikon ,Leupy and Burris and whats their warranties like? Thx for any info you can come up with.

I believe the correct spelling is Pentax and I have a 3-9X variable on my Winchester 270 Win. It is approx 5 years old and has been hunted hard and have never had a problem with it. It's comparable in quality to the Nikon scopes and the middle line Leupolds. Don't have the warranty information in front of me, but I believe it is a lifetime warranty against defects. Yes I would buy another if the price was right. :)

Sorry for the spelling and thx for the info. I told you my brain is in the first stage of overload:banghead::banghead:

i have a gameseeker fixed-6. i think it is a terrible scope and because of it i won't even try another pentax.

glass quality is fair-to-good for the price i paid, but durability is very much lacking.

Does anyone else have anything to add to this?

Dakotasin, what was the durability issue with yours?

Jimfern, how bout your thoughts on the one you purchased?

I here from a few guys that own that scope Pentax 4-12x40 Gameseeker eye relief is 3" not great for heavy recoil rifles.I was also thinking about them but I am not a fan of china made scopes.I was also looking at the Sightron SI Riflescopes 3-9x40mm Satin Black Md: SI39X40MD I seen them for $99.00 free shipping,I think they are made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty.

I recently was is the same situation you were in, wanting a decent scope with the exact same magnification range you are looking at. I finally decided due to a friend at the local gunshop letting me borrow his gun that had a Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14.5X40mm with the BDC retical. It was mounted on his Remington VTR 22-250. After that day at the pit I was sold and picked one up through Midway for $300 and have never looked back. The retical design does what it was designed to do after some practise (figuring out what each mil circle does with my bullet) and picks up great light. I am very new to this quality of scopes and really have not figured out the potential this thing really has. I have always opted for the cheap one and always came back dissapointed, finally took the dive. So the saying is true, especially with optics, you get what you pay for! Good luck.

Pentax makes great spotting scopes and cameras but I am not impressed with the Gameseeker 3-9x that I own.

Pentax Lightseeker...

I have heard very good things about the Pentax Lightseeker which is their top of the line made in one of the best factories in Japan with a Lifetime warranty

I have heard that Pentax makes glass for Burris
