About the only time I open carry is hunting, for the Bigfoots.
Lots of gun owners are for gun rights but oppose stupid behavior. That's different. For example, I oppose AWBs but think the Chipotle bros were idiots.
Too many worry about printing
Permitless Open Carry is Now Legal in 30 States
Not quite. It is still illegal in Florida, as they allow permit-less concealed carry only.
IMHO open carry is a tactical mistake, saying"shoot me first".

Of courseIf you're going to open carry, a retention holster is a must. Here's an example:

Most people are oblivious to open carryYou hear that... but ive talked to people in the store wearing an 8 inch 460 or 7 inch redhawk for 30 minutes and then then realize i was carrying it. So idk what the odds of anyone noticing a normal size gun are.
Still agree with you though.
That's what situational awareness is forMost people won't try to snatch your gun. Most people won't mugger you, either.

There's also the "zero-sum game" mentality, which is quite common. In other words, if someone has his gun(s), he doesn't want anyone else to get a gun, because that would water down his perceived advantage. Therefore, he would make it as difficult as possible to be a new owner. The only "gun owners" who support more gun control are criminals and politicians
That's why gun rights organizations are so important. There's also the "zero-sum game" mentality, which is quite common. Of course, such a person would draw the line at confiscation of existing guns. The problem is that once gun control gets rolling, it's not going to stop at someone's red line.
The overarching question here is whether gun owners see themselves as a community, with common interests, or whether they see themselves as stand-alone individuals. The stereotypical "rugged individualism" of gun owners works against their interest in collective action. And the antigun leadership exploits this.
Open carry renders those worries irrelevant.
Considering the arthritis I'm dealing with, I prefer OC (not allowed in IL-ANNOY) as it is easier to draw my 4" revolver with the rig I have rather than from my waistband.
