It has a pretty nice fit and finish but the barrel looks fake because it so small. I had to slide a shell in the chamber before I bought it because the barrel was so small it didnt look like a 12 gauge.

Other than the barrel the lock up is a little weird and was almost impossible to shoot fast other than that I didnt have any complaints with it. Anyone ever seen one of these or own one, if so does this shotgun hold up pretty well or is it one of those you get what you paid for?

Escorts are very popular here in the UK because they're so much cheaper than American and Itallian shotguns (remember, everything is at least twice as expensive over here). I've never actually bought one myself but they seem to be doing very well. Hunters sing their praises and I know clay shooters who use Escorts and can match my scores with my 1100.

When you said Turkish Escort I thought you meant................

Yeah I realized what it sounded like after I was done posting.

iv never heard of them, how much did you pay for the pump? thier semis look nice.

$279 OTD and a free box of shells, the owner said he was selling alot of them at the gun show.

Hatsan Sighting

My dad ended up with this recently.

There was a lot of gun in the box for the money. Hasn't been shot yet, but 1 guy has one & loves it. There was a review I read (NRA) Only 2 complaints were front heavy & a little heavy recoil IIRC. The sight for the turkey barrel seems like it would work well.

Fosbery, you can actually own guns in England? Or do you have to store
them at a club?

Yes, you can own them privately and store them at home. However, there is a long and strenuous application process for a certificate (which is like a licence, but it can't be called a lisence for legal reasons, since firearms ownership is a right, not a privilege).

 I own both the Escort pump and semi-auto in 12 gauge. Yes the barrels do look small, but so do the other european style shotguns. Have shot about 2000 rounds through the auto with no problem!!! We did this shooting clays. I also shoot clays with the pump. About the best deal I have found for the money.Have used the pump for deer off and on for past 3 years. All I can say is burn powder and enjoy your new toy!! scchokedaddy

anyone know of any place in the usa that sells the hatsan escort pistol grip and magazine extension?? or maybe a overseas place that will be willing to send over?

What a timely thread. I have been contemplating getting on of the semi-autos as a spare defensive gun so I can baby my Benelli a bit. The price is right and I read some good reviews on the net. Any further comments on quality/reliability would be welcomed by myself as well. On the subject of magazine extensions, legal issues keep LSI from bringing them in. I had a chat with them on the phone about this Friday. They were not aware of the recent ATF ruling that an extension is legal on an import semi-auto shotgun IF the import parts count can be kept below 10 parts. I sent them further details on this so perhaps there will be some further work on their part to bring in the defensive model of the Aimguard. Regardless I would think adding a US extension would be legal. On that note I have read the extension from a Remington 1100 will fit but not screw down all the way. Adding a short spacer between the extension and handguard would remedy that. Anyone know if this is true? I asked the shooters from the Philippines on Glock Talk as the guns are reported popular there for IPSC use. The only negative comment I got from them was that one has to press a button each time a shell is loaded. As a left handed shooter that probably won't bother me as much.

I heard that a spacer and an 1100/870 magazine extension tube will work on the semi auto but I do not know how to add this and where to get a spacer from. Any other info would be great, I am planning on buying one from Big 5. The ads appear to read that it comes w/ an extended mag tube but that is not the case w/ the ones Big 5 sells.

I was thinking just a 1" diameter section of PVC painted black. After all it just needs to let the end cap tighten against something. I would not think it had to be metal.

That is true. The ATF has recently stated that the imported parts count applies to semi-auto shotguns, meaning that if one can replace enough imported parts to bring the total to under 10 it is okay. Of course one would have to count parts according to the ATF list and see how many the Escort has total, then figure out what one could replace with American components.

Indeed.

Clicked through on this post because I too was considering the Escort 18" auto.http://www.hatsan.com.tr/escort_ps_guard.asp.

After looking things over and talking to a local dealer, I figured that it wasn't worth the risk or the potential hassle of counting parts, getting an ATF letter, etc. Folks on the British forums seem to like the Hatsans, though. I think the hunting models could be a real steal.

i found this thread on gunsnet.net....

http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-236560.html

someone there says that the escort pump parts are interchangable with Fabarm shotgun parts (not sure what model fabarm)... not sure if it is 100% correct, maybe one of your guys have access to parts to find out... i also wonder if the stocks are interchangable with the escort pump and escort semi.. still very interested in the escort semi, but hate that it lacks accessories over here in the US.
