I traded my Vanguard S2 .308 a couple of months ago as part of a deal to get my Steyr AUG. I felt I had caliber "overlap" with my Blaser R8 7mm-08. This left me with a dilemma about the reloaded .308 ammo and supplies I had for it, so there were twinges of regret.
I went to a long range shoot yesterday, hitting targets out to 900 yards with a couple of different rifles. Ended up coming home with one of the rifles, another Vanguard S2, with a Leupold VX-6, 3-18x44 CDS-ZL, with the FireDot Wind Flex reticle.
I love their CDS system, this is my 3rd Weatherby using it. Find the range with a digital laser rangefinder and just turn the knob on the turret to the number for that distance. 220, 430, 640 yards, no problem. Had to use some holdover for the 800 and 900 yard targets. It was harder getting the reading on the steel sillouettes on those last two than hitting them.
Also got to nail the targets at all the distances using an LMT .308 Sharpshooter rifle using a Mil-Rad scope. Nice rifle.
