Okay, so I have everything assembled. Now I just need an upper.

I found this one and It looks pretty nice.

You can get a Stag for about the same price. Look at a Stag is my recommendation.

Any of the big name brands will suit you just fine...That one looks good.

Why stag?

Because it's closer to milspec. It will perform better.

For instance, DPMS recommends that you not shoot steel cased ammo because they claim it will cause issues in their guns. Stags will eat up steel cased ammo w/o a problem.

Stag MPI's their bolts and offers more standard upgrades. The Stag uppers have chrome lining, come with govt profile barrels, sell with a ARMS #40 BUIS ($95 value, didn't see one on the DPMS), as well as a side sling swivel ($25 value).

Their barrels are better and known to be within spec with more consistency.

Their quality rivals and in some cases exceeds the quality of many brands that sell for close to the $1000 range (for a complete basic gun).

On top of that, they have excellent customer service.

Better value, better quality, better buy.

Stag's good. I have a Stag lower on my AR

Jump up to CMMG for $525.95. Get a 4150 steel barrel and 1/7 twist. You can option up from there. And CMMG has a ton of options.

Stag makes the S&W AR. If it is good enough for S&W.....


Stag is the same as CMT. CMT provides parts to Colt. Colt is the best.


The DPMS isn't bad or junk. Do not get the wrong impression. It is just widely recognized that Stag is a better product. Hence why peopl recommend it so much.

Shotgunnews will not have better deals than the net - the only cheaper uppers are from places that sell kits - and those are pure junk.
