We hit an iceberg caused by the reckless global warming policies of the Bush Administration. it was very tragic, we lost everything we had. Go Obama.

Bad photo, wrong lens on camera, can't get back far enough, there's a cabinet behind me, no light in the safe, the good guns are in the back in the dark, I had a flat tire, I ran out of gas, my suit didn't come back from the cleaners, there was an earthquake, a terrible flood, it wasn't my fault I swear to God! please don't kill me.

Good Cheap Safe

I bought my gun safe from a grocery store that was going out of business (big surprise they had something like this). The safe is torch rated (TL-15) as well as fire rated at 1,800F for 90 minutes. A firefighter friend said no house fire gets that hot and stays that hot for that long. The thing is ugly as ugly can be but it only cost me $500

I made custom gun stand-offs and stock holders to hold my long guns. What is nice is that it came with three heavy locking cabinets (took two out for the pictures) and an antivibration alarm that I hooked to my alarm system.

Is that safe full now calljon? It looks pretty heavy.
How fast do you think it's possible to get that out with just 2 guys and a moving dolly?
Also what time do you leave for work? :D

My Safe

It might be full now or it might not :neener:

It weighs about 1,000 lbs unloaded but I was able to bolt it to my floor. A standard dolly couldn't handle the weight but one of the heavy ones the vending machine guys have would work.

Unfortunately for would be gun thieves I work from my home so I am usually not gone for too long when I am. :D

I don't ever like being the bearer of bad news, but that safe is neither a TL-15, nor is it torch rated. What you paid for it is not a bad price, because it is a decent fire rated safe.

If the seller represented it as either a TL-15 or a torch rated safe, you should go after them for misrepresentation.

I'd rather you hear the bad news from me than find out after a burglary.

TL Rating of Safe

Honestly I made an assumption considering the TL rating of my safe which I guess made me the first three letters of assumption. :D

The guy I bought it from was some liquidator from Canada that did not know one thing about safes nor anything else he was selling in the store. He was hired by the grocery chain's corporate headquarters to sell everything there from trash compactors to shelving to the safe. Honestly I believe if he knew I was buying it for guns he would have pooped his pants.

I had a hard time finding any information about the safe rather than it's fire rating (which is posted on a plate inside) but based off my very limited knowledge and comparing it to other safes I made the assumption of it's TL rating. My opinion is though as far as it being burglery rated, if it has a substantial lock and construction it is burglery rated. Any safe can be cracked if you give someone the proper tools and enough time.

I do know it was made in Korea and the company is still around but did not have much information on their website because it is a discontinued model. Learning it is not torch rated does not change my opinion of my "deal" because the size and fire rating (my primary reason for buying a safe). I have more than guns in my safe. I have family documents dated back to the revolutionary war as well as old family photographs in mine.

Just for edification, how could you tell from my photos that it is not TL rated? I was able to take the door open when I got it to check it out on the inside and it had drill plates around the combination as well as glass relockers? I thought based off of these features it warranted some form of burglery rating?

My safe

Do you like it?
