Some time ago I have read, that the DBM bottom metal from some well known riflestock manufacturer (H-S Precision?) proved unreliable and the Badger Ordnance AICS bottom metal was the way to go. But IMHO the shape of the badger triggerguard is not pretty, and somehow I do not like the idea of using an alloy bottom metal on my custom rifle.

Is there any reliable alternative to Badger's part?

What about Pierce Detachable Magazine Bottom Metal? Is it any good? What is it made of (did'nt find any info on that on the maker's website).

I like alloy in many places, just not in guns. I'm a proud owner of Siemens Porsche design toaster and an electric kettle and a radio set by Grundig - in every one of this things (and the car wheels too) aluminum parts are in the right place looking good and poviding rigidity and all beeing at the same very light.

On a DBM bottom metal alu mag well will get scratched, as will the trigger guard, and when cerakote coating will be eventually damaged it will start to wear and look ugly. That is just my opinion. And I do not like the shape of the triggerguard on the Badger Ordnance part too.

But the topic was the Pierce DBM bottom metal for a Rem 700, not the alloy virtues, was is not ;) ?

No problem! :)

Alloy over stell and vice versa is probably discussed here somwhere, but rather in the handgun department. As for the bottom metal I'm asking - I've searched the forum and found nothing - hence the new thread. And IT (probably) IS an alloy unit anyway :(
