Pietta 1860 army barrel scratches

got a new Pietta 1860 Army. Looks good except for what look like grinding scratches on one side, and the top, of the barrel. tops of the lettering on the barrel have been ground off to some extent. can see that the scratches were there before blueing. just wondering if this is normal for Piettas, or if an exchange would be recommended? thanks for any input.

PS - think the 1860 Army may now be my favorite BP revolver (have had a pair of 1851 Navies since the late 1970's), with the ratcheting loading lever, lightness for being a .44, and of course those smooth lines!

It doesn't sound like you're happy and it's not normal, so exchanging it would be warranted.

I have seen several Italians that did not receive a good polish job before bluing. If your unhappy with it, return it. You could antique it.

I usually don't bother with scratches.What ain't there when I buy 'em ,I soon put on myself.When I can,I shoot the heck outta my guns,and while I DO keep them clean and oiled,they all show safe dings, handleing marks, and all the signs of plenty of use.
