My friend has a 36 Colt from Pietta that when cocked gently will not fully rotate the cylinder. When cocked fast it rotates all the way.

I guess the hand is short and i know they can be heated ansd stretched but i would rather just buy the parts and replace the hand.

Does anyone know the address to Pietta or a place that has the parts?

Let us know how it works out. I am curious about any gunsmithing that might be involved. I bet it works right out of the envelope!

Like the originals, replica cap & ball revolvers often require that parts be fitted. Because of this replacement parts are made longer or bigger at certain fit points so the 'smith will have material to work with. In the case of a hand it's usually made longer then necessary, and will have to be shortened while keeping the original contour at the top. When buying parts obtain ones made by the revolver's manufacturer, and don't expect them to drop in - although you might get lucky.

Got the parts today. Fast shipping too. Had to disassemble the gun 3 times before it worked like i wanted. I had to put a radius at the top on the outside edge and where the spring was staked in it had a bit of metal squeezed out and that had to be filed flush.

I also found a burr on the cylinder bolt that was keeping the bolt from falling in the notches smoothly. Gun works perfectly now.

Thanks for your help on the parts source. Thomas.
