Pimping a Mini-14 with a Boyd's stock

that stock is like pulling out the military dress uniform, showy ... I have the black standard stock on my blued Mini and just ordered a replacement wood factory stock, think I might refinish it to look darker and older, to have more of an older WW2 look to it. Just cause ...

Nothing wrong with that film495. The wood stocks work well. You can see my other mini, a 30, it has a choate stock on it. Hard to get a cheek weld on it.

I had a choate guard on mine....liked it alot better thwn the factory part with rhe oprod guard. Also went back to the carbine synthetic stock from a hogue and an ATI, just because it made rhe gun feel smaller. If id dropped it in a ProV tho id have probably shot it more.

Fun Fact: Demi-human used to drive a Pistachio Green 1978 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, with white walls. Filled with girls on the beach at Alden lake.
;)
As well as a double black 74 Caprice Classic, also with white walls, and window tint...

...Baby.
(Pop the collar! Brush yo shoulda off!)

Heh-heh, I had a '67 Lincoln Continental with the suicide doors. 462, four barrel, dual exhaust. Took off like a rocket when kicked down. And the gas gauge dropped even faster! Good thing gas was only around 60 cents. Loved that huge bench seat in the back.

After seeing that mini, it really makes me want to get something cool. My Remington 7615 really needs that plastic changed out. Be neat to have something neato on my store brand Mossberg 46B as well.

I have the Choate hand guard on mine also, the original is fugly. Would love to find a good match and paint it the same color as the birch stock.

That, and a smaller gas bushing, are the only changes on my Mini-14.

Despite the appeal of typical brown wood on the Mini 14, I'm curious how it would look with unpredictable results from sanding, then applying Red Mahogany (oil-based) Minwax stain.

The unknown results could show a bit of a seasoned look?

That's the fun of woodworking, and I think that you're on to something there.

wiscoaster- quite frankly , I wouldn’t mind a fourth AKM -,especially a classic old WASR - simply to improve the wood color and character.

Rubbing an attractive stain into sanded wood is a reward all by itself. Can’t really find the right words.

I just bought my first Boyds product. Some wood furniture for my ARK1547thing pistol. My mill motor is now on backorder for a couple months so i cant finish the lower yet.

I had to do some inletting on the hand guards to clear the delta ring sprocket, but otherwise A+ quality.

Yes, the blue ext will get painted black... But i think im gonna leave the lower raw.
