Range conditions: Cold (appx 26F), 6"-8" of snow & inversion overcast. Too much snow to use my bowling pins for reactive targets (no contrast!) so had to settle for my sight-in paper target and the range gongs.

I'd adjusted the rail stop screw on my PK-AS for a better fit to my SAR-2 so I had to slightly adjust windage/elevation. On the PK-AS this is very simple: Back off the locking bolt on the right side a few turns, adjust windage and elevation (windage adjust bolt is on the left side of the sight, the elevation adjust bolt is on the bottom of the sight) then tighten the locking bolt. Only takes seconds to do when sighting in using the special adjustment tool that comes with the PK-AS (*much* easier to adjust than the original Kobra!) While the adjustment marks are 2MOA there's so much distance between marks that 1MOA or smaller adjustments are easily done.

Once I was happy w/the windage/elevation adjustments (sighted in for 200m w/no holdover) I decided to try some rapid acquisition & engagement drills. What I discovered was that using the right eye w/no chin or cheek contact w/the buttstock is *very* fast! Just focus on the target, bring the rifle to shoulder and when the dot touches the target just squeeze off the shot. Doing double taps at the 100m gong I was more often than not getting at least one hit out of the double tap (keep in mind that this only the 2nd time I've used this sight, I'm using a new sighting technique, I'm wearing gloves & a heavy coat and the 100m gong is only 12" across). At closer ranges (25m-50m) I found that the rangefinding ellipse works very well for me as a rough & ready CQB sight w/o using the dot (place the ellipse over COM and squeeze off). I feel I'm finally getting the hang of how to use the PK-AS and the more I use it the more I like it!
