I'm in the greater Seattle area and am looking for recommendations on where to shoot. Originally from CA, I knew some great spots to camp for a weekend in the mountains with great places to shoot.

Anybody have recommendations for WA state?

Thanks!

Find a place that looks good, then contact the Sheriff's office to make sure it is legal to shoot there. Finding a shooting spot in WA is tough.

green water area, fire roads 70, 71, 72, 74, 75.

not all sure whats open these days as far as those roads go, but thats always were I went shooting.

Out in the little natches area over the pass is quite nice and have spent alot of time out there.

Thanks guys. I hope that it isn't too difficult, as one person mentioned. Are laws any different in WA? I was under the impression that all national forest land was open to shooting (away from roads, buildings, trails, campgrounds, etc)?

Have I been misinformed?

It's the watershed areas that like to regulate this kind of thing. Unfortunately, WA doesn't have a sweeping general rule that it is OK to shoot in forests. You will rarely know if it is legal to shoot in a wooded area without doing a little research. There is no rhyme or reason to it, as far as I can tell.

One important point of difference from CA. Aliens (Green Card or non-resident) require an Alien Firearm License to touch any firearm in WA state. Just in case you fall into those categories. Ownership or possession if you're an alien is a Class C Felony maximum penalty 5 years in prison, $10,000 fine, and deportation, each firearm is classed as a separate offense.

Head North for about an hour. Turn east. Find an ungated gravel road and head up as high as you can go until you find a nice safe open area. It really is that easy from where you are at. Stay East of highway 9, watch for no trespassing or no shooting signs and pick up your garbage when you are done. No offense, but in this neck of the woods a good shooting spot is kinda like a good fishing hole. PM me if you wish more detailed directions.
