Places to shoot near Prescott, AZ

Hey folks, I will being going to Yavapai College's Gunsmithing program in Prescott, AZ, starting in the fall. Are there any good ranges to join in that area of AZ? Also, I hear you can just go out into the desert and shoot. Are there any good spots in the desert for this?

don't know. but my buddy llives there. he says they have like 30 gun shops.
