Right after the 1996 crime bill had passed, the prices on used S&W revolvers took a real dump. I had always enjoyed revolvers as range guns and "bought" a surplus S&W 65 with a four inch barrel for $60 cash and three full capacity Glock 21 mags that I had paid about $50 for. I bought all my S&W 19s for $200 to $225 and found the finger grooved combat grips at gun shows for usually $5 a set.
You snooze, you loose and I do not expect the old S&W revolvers to become cheaper, even with a lousy finish.
The 19RS was inherited and free.
I got a few more boxes full of them.
