Maybe I'll buy an SKS. That's about the most evil I can get here in California.

Fantastic picture.
I'm looking at getting the following in the next year or two:
- .223-rated suppressor and mounts for my AR.
- Some sort of machinegun, either an Uzi or DIAS. I'd rather not get an RR'ed M16 due to my luck at dropping stuff and risks of dinging up the aluminum lower.
- CZ 452 16" with threaded barrel and some nice glass. I love .22s, and want something really accurate that I can truly push my limits with. That, and shooting suppressed is fun.
- Glock 19, with gobs of mags.
- Another AR.
- Maybe an AK.
- More magazines for everything.
- More ammo for everything.
- Taking the girlfriend to Europe for two weeks. (Not a gun, but where my first priority for money needs to go.)

Sorry Oleg, I don't like this one. I see that it can be taken one of two ways. One could take it as preparing politically to work against the ban. This idea is good, but probably too subtle. The second, and the one is more obvious as evidenced by the posts above, is the idea that 1994 just taught people they need to buy lots of things before it is banned. That idea caters too much to the defeatist crowd that believes a 2008 ban is inevitable and there is nothing we can do but stock up on guns and ammo.
Perhaps if the caption was changed to more clearly represent political activism preparedness instead of the "OH NO BUY YOUR GUNS NOW, HILBAMA WANTS TO TAKE THEM AWAY!!" motif. Maybe something like, "1994 taught many that we must remain vigiliant in the fight against gun control. Are you ready for 2008?"

Really? I mean, it picked up a couple of new cosponsors, but it still hasn't even hit the subcommittee calendar. How do you figure it shows signs of passing?

i am putting more emphasis on buying firearms i want that could be affected by the ban not as a defeatist, but as an opportunist, once the legislation is likely or definate, those guns will go way up in value, they are probably as cheap now as they are ever gonna be. when i spot an sks or something cheap, i buy it not because i need it or will use it, i feel it will hold it's value better than the stock market.

I don't like the defeatist attitude. Spend some time/money working to prevent any more bans from passing.

Spend your money on writing letters, funding pro-2A politicians and groups and taking the time to work for your rights instead of buying guns. The former "expense" helps everyone while the latter only helps you.
Sorry, Oleg. I think it sends the wrong message. Why tell folks to spend their money on things instead of preventing the very act they're afraid of? There are too many folks that will drop $500, $1,000, $2,000 even $5,000 and more preparing for a ban and not send a dime to any of the pro-2A groups. That way lies defeat.

One of your best yet from where I'm sitting. I can relate to the lady holding the rifle. There are no turnoffs in it for me. The "evil assault rifle" doesn't look so evil in her hands. The message looks just right to catch the attention of people who don't follow RKBA very closely.
How would you promote the "Spend your money on protecting your rights instead of buying guns for when they take them away" with a good poster?

I will make that poster also -- but I do recommend hedging bets and buying ammo, mags and guns in advance. They may, after all, have to be used for their direct purpose -- self-defense against confiscators. Getting training would be at least as important. I'll make more versions instead of just re-making this one.

I don't think we should be afraid to debate gun bans as the cause of the Second American Revolution, its probably too much to ask congresscritters to remember their history, but what exactly were the British marching on Concord and Lexington to seize?

Just picked up my Colt AR15 today. After 24 years in the Army I was not happy with the cleaning chores with the AR but I wanted to be prepared. Heading to Iraq next week where contractors go unarmed (we're NONCOMBATANTS) and I am sure the opposing side will abide by the Geneva Convention and not whack my head off on TV.

The whole deterrent value of guns isn't that you and I would survive against the local SWAT. It's that the elected and unelected creatures who set such a showsdown in motion wouldn't live long enough to dance on our bones.
