Chicago's RIDICULOUS Plan for Gun Control

Most of those Chicagoans are just ignorant about a lot of things. All they know about guns are crime and cops. They don't hunt. They don't shoot trap. They don't plink. And if you handed them one so they could go kill a cow for steak you would have to draw them a picture of a cow because they've never seen one of those either!

The only time I've ever seen someone fire from the hip is in old Western movies. Does the technique even exist in real life?

I think terrorists/insurgents use that technique, which at least gives some sort of reason as to why it's feared. Not even the LA bank robbery guys with the Auto AK's did that. Aiming is kind of a little bit essential to hit what you want. Can't do that if the sights are 2 feet from your eyeballs.

We have put forth a plan that is absolutely a sure way to stop easy access to guns

Which is their way of saying, "We have a plan to keep the contributions and funding coming so those of us making easy $$$$$$ at the Brady Center will be able to keep our fat, bloated salaries."

you would have to draw them a picture of a cow because they've never seen one of those either!

That's absolutely false. Many of them campaigned for Hillery.

I lived in/near Chicago in 1985 for almost a year. It was was the most miserable year of my life, and it WASN'T just because the weather sucked. I'd put a good old Wyoming winter up against the "Windy City (ie. a lot of blowhards) any day. But, I digress.

Even then as I recall, Chicago had either a flat out gun ban, or so severely restricted ownership that it was practically impossible for me to own a firearm, so I didn't. I knew I'd be leaving within the year, so it didn't seem to be THAT big of a deal. In that year, I was robbed twice, once at knife point, the other at the end of a baseball bat. Both were in "downtown" only a few blocks off Michigan Ave. and Lakefront Dr. (the famous scenes everyone has seen. Also, the "nice" part of town) in BROAD DAYLIGHT. And, this was before the crack and meth wars. I'm probably luicky to be alive quite frankly, but those lessons were hard learned and never forgotten. I ended up traveling in small groups of friends and coworkers. One of the happiest days of my life was when I got on a plane and LEFT!!!!! Things have NOT, gotten any better, now almost 25 years later. Even with all their B.S. of how a great and wonderful city it is, and how many inroads to curtailing violence have been made, blah blah blah. Guess what campers, they will NEVER, and I mean NEVER clean up the city until they decide to wash out the refuse that sits in City Hall right along with the other garbage too. That, and the state Capitol couls use a good wash down as well. THAT hasn't changed in 25 years either.

Actually, felons can own guns...they can own muzzle loaders because these are for some odd reason not considered firearms.

Now that's what I call sensible gun legislation!

"Are these people really this stupid, or is this all some kind of big game? I mean, really, has anyone ever tried sitting down with these people and explaining to them how illogical all of their goals are? Has anyone ever presented them with real statistics showing how few "military-style assault weapons" are actually used in crimes? If I were to do this, how would they react? Would they insist that I was lying?"

1st, a lot of them are that stupid. The rest are just blind mantra chanters who need a cause to wring their hands over.

2nd, you should spend some time on Paul Helmke's (which is OWNED by pro-gunners) blog on Huffington post. This very report is being discussed right now, but we haven't heard anything from the other side yet. The other anti-gun blogs on Huffpo are usually even funnier. A lot of these people are not playing with a full deck. You wouldn't believe some of the things they write.

3rd, we regularly bombard them with stats from the FBI, ATF, DOJ, and other sources regarding how few rifles OF ANY KIND are used in crime. They ignore us in favor of tainted, Joyce Foundation-funded stats, and nonsense like the oft debunked Kellerman study.

There is one poster over there (shedances, aka Kelli) who may accuse you of lying, but when you ask her to cite an example, she'll refuse, like it's beneath her. Or, she'll waive the 'off-topic' flag. As a matter of fact, a couple of us have offered to contribute $500 to the Brady Campaign if she could back up just one of her accusations. One guy offered a contribution, and said he would cut up one of his guns with a torch, and put it on Youtube, if she would provide an example of any of us having lied about anything. She still hasn't taken us up on it.

Have fun! :D

As someone stated earlier, they are not about controling violence, or crime. They are about control, period. They are elitist socialists, whether they realize it or not.

They are also against punishing criminals sufficiently, as they are more concerned about prison overcrowding than public safety.

These icons don't come close to conveying my frustration. I can't understand how somebody could possibly think for even a split of a split of a split of second that those bullet points are a solution. I am ABSOLUTELY flabbergasted.

It's not about making better laws. It's about CONTROL.

When guns are as regulated as books [meaning none] ... that's when our right is safe.

I just can't wait to hear Obamanations gun control/ban plan. Hopefully he will backtrack on his gun plan as he has already done on his "Time For Change" campaign promises. "Maybe not in a year maybe not in a 4 year term"

“We have put forth a plan that is absolutely a sure way to stop easy access to guns,”

The action plan:
• Require universal background checks on every gun transfer
I thought Illinois already did that.

• Regulate the trafficking of illegal guns
What, require a waiting period for criminals buying from street dealers?

• Restrict military-style assault weapons in civilian hands
Chicago and Australia already do that, guess what? IT DIDN"T WORK!

• Prohibit all violent criminals from possessing firearms
It's already illegal for them to do that! However, I agree with this measure. Perhaps a good way to do this would be to keep them in prison. Or would that be politically incorrect?

Apply consumer product safety standards
This might not actually be a bad thing, it it was done right. For instance, requiring some basic safety standards such as the gun not blowing up after firing 5 hollowpoints.
and childproof safety features to all firearms
What if someone wants to take their kid hunting?

The solution is to control the thugs. In fact, the ideal solution would be to address the root causes of thuggery: Broken families, abadonment of traditional values,
But in Europe they don't do that, so it must be wrong!
