Plastic inserts

Some time in the 1950s. I'm not sure exactly when they were introduced, but these sights were standard on the .44 Magnum when it was released in 1956.

I have a new Model 28, no dash, never fired and it has red paint or possibly red plastic coating the front sight just as if it were an insert, but its not. The gun numbers to 1958 and is new unfired. I had a Model 57-1 that did not have the colored insert. Makes me wonder.

Some 6" barreled 28s had the insert. Neither of mine do, though.

I read about the Highway Patrolman you scored in another thread. Now we need some pics!

I don't own a camera and don't know how to use one. The last camera I owned was stolen at Clark AFB in the P.I. in 1972 while I was transiting back to the states for new construction duty in Pascagoula, Miss. I never bothered with one again.

NO PICS FROM ME!!!

Don't know, just wish they hadn't. My 6" 629-3 would be perfect were it not for its orange insert front sight. One day I'll get it changed to a black post.
