Plated Bullets Out of a Glock?

I know you can't shoot exposed lead rounds from a Glock for fear of KB, but can you shoot plated rounds? Are jacketed rounds and plated rounds even different?

From what I've read, they're fine for plinking, but shootin HOT rounds that are plated, can cause some build up in the barrel.

Plated is fine. I've shot hundreds from mine without cleaning the barrel. No problem. Just can't use all lead bullets. I wouldn't try "copper washed" ones, either. Not sure about gas checks, but probably no.

Tell that to my range officer friend who shoots nothing but cast lead bullets through his 21 and 17. The 21 has 10k+ lead bullets through it. No problems yet. Cleanliness is the key.

Yep, got a buddy who puts more hardcast through his G21 than anything else and has yet to have any issues and he shoots quite a bit. I'd say his G21 has seen 20K+ rounds of hardcast and his Glock has yet to blow his digits off. That said, I wouldn't doubt there are valid reason for avoiding lead in Glocks; I've read the warnings as well.

Anyway, I put hundreds of Rainier plated HPs through my G19 (and Kahr K9 that also features polygonal rifling) and never had any additional cleaning needed due to copper build up. I think the only plated bullets I'd shy away from is American Ammunition's C3... but not because of the plated bullet.

I reload for my GLOCK's (23-27) and use jacketed and plated bullets. I do not max any rounds so no problems there. I run the plated and jacketed with 7.3 to 7.5 grains of Longshot powder and get good ammo, no residue in barrel. Actually these run very clean.
Jackets are usually an actual jacket while plated is a chemical type layering of material.
