Just picked up a near perfect Sig P226 with a German frame at my LGS for less than $500. It was dirty with barely any oil on it, looks like the only cleaning they ever did was to clean the rails and barrel. The shop was honest in saying that the prioro owner traded it due to issues and they hadn't gotten around to cleaning and fixing it yet. It fired but had light strikes and some feed issues... made a deal with a caveat that if it didn't clean up and run I could get full credit back for it.

I stripped it down, cleaned every last part, replaced all the springs, and its now good as almost new and runs perfectly. All I have to do now is install an SRT kit and a set of night sights. So please, don't take care of your Sigs and then sell them at a loss b/c they stopped working. I love getting a deal...

Saw a SIG P226 at the last gunshow in my area for $425. Finish was kinda beat up but was most likely a cop trade in.

Yup.

Every time i acquire a gun, new or used, I tear it down. I clean the crap out of it, replace all the springs on a used gun often some parts that look questionable or obviously worn or broken. I have been known to replace some springs on a new gun too.

I lubricate them to spec, tweek anything I think needs tweeking and generally smooth things up. My guns work.

I clean, inspect, and maintain my guns every time I use them. EVERY time.

Nice catch.

Jeff56, I'd have bought it by now... seriously sounds like a good deal and for about $150 Sig will do the "Service Plan" on it and replace the commonly worn springs and night sights (I don't think they change the firing pin spring or mainspring). Or you could get the parts from Top Gun Supply and do it yourself for less.

Any W. German Sig under $500 OTD is a good deal as long as it has not been abused. Neglected is sometimes ok but you should also know how to check the out.

Yessir, that is an amazing deal for sure. Hope you have a great time shooting it!
