Actually, I have both in a single gun. Bought this 99% Sig P226 several months ago on Gunbroker (not a CPO). Took it to an indoor range today using factory Remington FMJ ammo. The accuracy of this pistol is amazing right out of the box. This is a West German made Sig using the sheet metal blued slide.

When I got home to clean this pistol, I noticed when I slipped the barrel into the slide, the fit was perfect, absolutely no movement whatsoever. I understand all the hoopla about Sigs now

I am wheelchair bound so I have to shoot from a sitting position. I was resting the pistol butt on a gun rug. This is 10 shots in a single 1" hole at 21'.

Hope this picture posts. If not, someone please give me a free URL posting site.

The SIG P226 IS a target pistol.

The SIG P226 is a service pistol.

The SIG P226 is a self/home defense pistol.

The SIG P226 is a plinking pistol!

The SIG P226 is the ultimate pistol???:D

:neener: :neener:

My early model CZ-75 has always been my standard for out of the box affordable 9mm accuracy. This particular Sig shot a slightly tighter group than my coveted CZ.

They both can shoot a single ragged hole group at combat distances, the Sig just shoots a tad better.

I see how the Sig 226 has earned its reputation, I had no malfunctions when shooting the other day. One awesome pistol. :p

Curious: double-action first shot, or were they all single action?

I've had a couple of SIGs, which I like, but really had a hard time getting the first and second shots to group. The DA/SA transition was always an issue with me. That may cause me, eventually, to try a SIG with the DAK trigger.

The Sig226

Is one of the greatest 9mm's, if not pistols, of all time. I think in 100 years, if people can still have guns, it will be looked at as the 1911 and HiPower of it's day

Walt,

All shots were SA. I understand your question and it is a valid one. If it were first shot DA, it would most likely be a 2 hole, 4" group.

My objective was to ascertain this pistols inherent accuracy.

The DA pull on my CZ is significantly better, however, the Sigs SA trigger pull on my example is exemplary, being crisp and around 4.5 lbs.

Nice shooting. I'm sold on the performance of my HK's but there wouldn't be so many loyal fans of the SIGs if it weren't a quality piece...congrats on your pistol ;)
