Please explain the allure of the 1911

Personally, I love the Glock's trigger, it is actually probably my favorite stock trigger on any handgun. I'm sure a lot of people will have a smith concentrate a lot of emphasis on a trigger, and it is a very important aspect to some people, but I usually just shoot stock guns, and find the Glock's trigger to be perfect. I'm sure there are a lot of guns that have had real nice smooth breaking triggers installed, but my guns are nothin special in that regard. But I love my Glock and it's trigger and I also love my box stock 1911 and it's trigger, point is, I'm sure if everybody in the world who owns handgun was given a free Glock with their purchase of any handgun of their choosing, people wouldn't judge it so much, because when they shot it, it would do what it was expected to do..... shoot, and the fact people are always constantly putting it up against a handgun they love and scrutinizing it, means that they know there is something to be desired in the Glock. There is definitely something to be said for a handgun that can shoot 100,000 rounds consecutively, without 1 malfunction, and that's not even scratching the suface of the Glock's capabilities. So, I guess......I don't know, just don't pick on Glock, cuz I gaurantee there is something the Glock can do that your handgun can't, whatever it is. Not too many guns out there will outshoot a Glock, yeah, you might pull a little tighter of a group with your race gun, but that's splitting some pretty fine hairs.

Well, it's not quite a LaRue tactical bottle opening Armadillo, but I would love to get a free Glock with each 1911 I purchase... my niece loves the Christmas Armadillo, I'm sure my nephews would get a kick out of the free Tupperware. Although, them dillos are awful nice...:neener:

Also, this thread was originally addressing why the 1911 was such a sought after gun, but a majority of the people posting on it have in one way or the other made reference to the Glock, whether the opinions people have of Glock are good or bad, the fact that the 1911 is though of as one of the greatest handguns of all time, and Glock keeps being referred to, what does that tell you? I'd say even if the 1911 is better than the Glock, its a worthy opponent, and not this piece of junk people keep trying to make it out to be. JMHO

The Armadillo is just some free swag LaRue includes with stuff you order from them. Kinda like a free Glock with every 1911 purchased.
