Let me start by saying thanks in advance to all / any information posted. I really do appreciate it.

So I am looking at this Tokarev, from what I have been told it is a Romanian Tokarev 1953. It does have a mismatched barrel (which does not really bother me). My real concern is that all the Romanian Tokarev's I have seen have the "star" on the grip and this one does not. I can see the Romanian / 1953 markings, I am just confused about the grips, were these grips stock or maybe they are aftermarket?

Any insight would be much appreciated, as I am fairly uninformed when it comes to these pistols.

you say it's miss matched, many time they only put some of the SN on the barrel (usually last 4, or just the numbers

They were 189 from the importer (century)
so it should be much more than that, the barrel should be free of rust/pitting, and have 2 mags and cleaning rod and holster, original military leather.

I appreciate the responses. I figured it was all normal, but I figured this would be the place to find out for sure.

The frame and the slide are Romanian.
You can tell by the triangle factory mark just in front of the serial number on the frame.

You have a bottom of the barrel imported Romanian TT33 Cugir pistolet Tokarev

The original grips were likely damaged or missing and they used the same ones they put on the Polish TT33 imports with their wonderful frame safety.

There is nothing wrong with mismatched pistols as shooters and the goofy import safety pretty well kills any real serious collectability so enjoy the gun for what it is. HTH

Oh,,,Welcome to The High Road!:D
