I'm looking at purchasing an M1A in the very near future. I've found one locally at what I believe is a fair price. I know that it left Springfield Armory as a Standard M1A and was modified by a gunsmith for match use.
The barrel is marked as follows:
1 10 762mm 5 92 3 35T GL
I'm assuming the 1 10 means it has a barrel twist of 1:10 and I know the 762mm is caliber. I also assume the 92 is the year it was made. The rest means nothing to me.
The bolt is stamped as follows: TRW ZC
Any idea what that means?
I'm a M1A novice. I deal with AR pattern rifles all the time, but this is my first M1A besides the rifle I was issued in Iraq. It has a Basset mount which has a solid reputation it seems. I would assume the rest of the rifle is quality as well. The gentleman that owns it has a very large collection of quality firearms, so I'm not super suspicious. I'd just like to know what I'm getting into. Any help is much appreciated.
