I just recently picked up my first Remington 700. I opted for a bone-stock 20" AAC-SD in .308. Already have a 762-SDN-6 for it, as well as everything I need to start handloading .308.
And I also have a scope for it. I plan to use a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x 44mm with a 30mm tube. I don't have a specific use for the gun and I'm not quite sure the range I'll be shooting it either. I'm assuming mostly 200-400 yards. I'd be hard pressed to find places to shoot farther than 400 yards around here anyway.
I don't know what's good and what isn't in the way of bases and rings. I generally don't mind spending a bit more to get nicer stuff either. So, I'm open to suggestions.
I also don't know if I even need to worry about an offset base with the scope that I have and the range that I'm shooting. And I also like the idea of a single piece mount VS a pair of rings - but like I said, I'm open to suggestions.
