Oh, Michael Gross is on the Brady Campaign? Good information to have about a hack actor.

I thought that when he was on Family Ties, by the way. I kept hoping for a "very special episode" in which the family hosts the Mendenez Brothers. Never happened. sigh...

I retract my original statement in which I said I'd watch it on December 5.

Cancel away, please.

It's the characters that we love or hate, not the actors who play them. We don't hate the guys who play Richard III, we hate Richard III the character because he's a sociopathic tyrant(yet we're fascinated by him too). And that's what these movies are: character studies. We don't really care about the giant monsters he fights, and even his guns are secondary in importance. To me he will never be some washed up actor with conflicted political views. To me he will always be lonely, paranoid Burt Gummer, tough yet vulnerable, hiding in his bunker, surrounded by his guns, waiting for the world to end.

Tremors was a stoopid movie.

Nothing nice to say, huh? Come on, it was a spoof for crying out loud.

hope you write your congressman and senators seeing you have time to write in a thread about something you don't like.

Compared to Gross's views in 1990 when the first Tremors came out...YES he IS making progress. Sensible controls and I own a Mossberg is a HUGE step from I'm all for banning guns...some people take a while to fully convert.

Tremors a stupid movie!?! I'm sorry, but the first film is an all-time classic. It's the best B monster movie tribute ever. The second and third films are good, but not as good.

The series hasn't impressed me that much, but I'm pretty mad at Sci Fi for cancelling Farscape, which I had become addicted to. I suspect whether or not they keep it has a lot more to do with the budget than ratings. Farscape was well rated, but cost a fortune to make.

I don't care much what the actors do or think, as long as they aren't vocally anti-gun. THe CHARACTER Burt is one of the best gun nut/survivalists ever. I still hope to have a wall o' weapons half as good as his.

THe CHARACTER Burt is one of the best gun nut/survivalists ever.

Actually, Burt is what the Brady bunch wants Americans to see gunowners as: paranoid psychotics who believe violence is generally the first and best option to a given situation.

I think you're taking it way to seriously. Anyway, I find a lot of humorous similarities between myself and Burt. I don't think he's supposed to be seen as a psycho. And anyway, what do you people have against being prepared?

I don't think he's supposed to be seen as a psycho. And anyway, what do you people have against being prepared?

Really? His friends all describe him as psycho, and not in the "friendly" sense, and he clearly makes them nervous. He is also depicted as chronically "on edge", and disrespectful of any authority yet appeals to his own authority in any situation.

And as for your attempted red herring, I've got nothing against people being prepared or survivalists in general. But I don't think the character at issue, Burt, does much to promote our cause.

going from all guns should be banned to i'm in the NRA and have a Mossberg ARE a step IMO...

Also, if you watch the movies and the series, Burt usually is right about things and people are liking him more and agreeing with him.

In night of the shriekers, Burt uses his HK33 to blast shriekers while Tyler with AR15 and Rosalita with a 12 ga. pump (she says "i want to help Burt, I can hit anything with that pump shotgun)...then a gov. lady burns out Burt's ammo stash and all three of them get VERY mad at her. If you watch it, it is pro gun...the director even got Burt's LAR Grizzly as a gift after Tremors 2.

I still don't understand why people who don't like Tremors would respond to this post...time they would be better served writing their congress people or replying to another thread.

You haven't watched the Series, have you?

Now that Burt's character is the hero, rather than Kevin Bacon, his character is much more rounded and sympathetic. There's a dash of Mcguyver there. The guy who's been there/done that and bails everyone out.

And who said Tremors has done more for RKBA than the NRA? I didn't see anyone say that?

Its a live-action cartoon, fer crying out loud. Not a true-life drama. But a its a good example of its genre.

You know, it's okay to like the show, but you seem to have a tenuous grasp on reality if you think that a CURRENT NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBER OF THE BRADY CAMPAIGN is pro-gun.

ok, but, he WAS for banning guns and a member of Brady, now he is in the NRA and owns a few guns and has researched survivalists and has prepared for earthquakes...how is that not a step?

Expecting anti's to go straight to GOA in one fell swoop is wishful thinking...we learn in steps...

I like to watch Tremors because it's funny.
I thought Tremors was already cancelled?
In the middle of the season Sci-Fi stopped showing it for about a month even though it was listed in TV guides.
Coincidence, I just saw this for the first time last night. It was mildly entertaining. One interesting part though was where they run out of ammo and have to raid some guy's collection of antique muzzle loaders before the creatures attack. Since these weapons are hardly rapid fire capable, they get a bunch of the local kids and setup volley fire on the creatures. Pretty cool!
That was the season finale. On the Sci-Fi channel, the first and last episodes are always the best.
Reruns are being aired at this time.
I still hope to have a wall o' weapons half as good as his.
That was in the Tremors movies. In the series, the "wall" is suprisingly empty and the reloading bench is gone and all his ammo is in a trunk, for Gods sake.:cuss:
I still find the show amusing.

Bad movies are some of the best films to watch and the original Tremors is one of my favorites. I originally rented it when I was in my 80's/early 90's horror movie phase (okay, I'm still in that phase) and loved it, even though it wasn't much of a horror movie.

taken from an interview...MG is Michael Gross...

VV: When you watch the "Tremors" films, that's one thing that's very obvious. You're having fun.

MG: My wife swears that it rubs off on my real life, too. Certainly, living in Los Angeles part-time. I have repeatedly one of the best earthquake kits of anybody in Los Angeles county. When the kids moved out, I got rid of some of my water. I used to have two 55 gallon barrels of drinking water behind the house along with several barrels of batteries and bandages and, you name it, I have it. It's got a little smaller since the kids moved out.

VV: Well, that Burt paranoia might not be such a bad thing. You never know when you might need it.

MG: The next thing you know, there'll be a collision with an asteroid, and then where would we be.

VV: Everybody will be coming over to your house for water.

MG: Well, that's why survivalists have guns. I never really thought about it. You know, survivalists were so associated with guns and things like that. I did a lot of reading, particularly with the first "Tremors" movie, about the survivalist movement and realized, of course, that they weren't necessarily violent people but the guns were there because when all your neighbors who were not prepared came knocking at your door, you had to have a way to keep them at a distance. Because the ones who are going to pooh-pooh you are the first ones who will be there saying, "Can I have some of that water of yours?"

If you want a good bad gun movie, Army of Darkness is on tonight...

Oh man! Now you've done it! You Lampoon Tremors as stupid but you're an AOD fan?!? "Oh, but that's different!" Right? Yeah, that's filled with intelligent social commentary and fantastic performances.

ARRRggh! You've made me so angry I'm going to buy more ammo. See what you've done?

*composes self*

By the way, it is on AMC, for your information.
