I carry a Glock 27 IWB everyday. I am looking for a good pocket gun. It is between the PM9 and the PM40. I spoke to the technical guy at Kahr. He says the PM40 has all the bugs worked out now. They have changed the extractor, recoil spring, and reinforced the trigger pivot pin.

I like the idea of a .40 cal pocket gun. But, I don't know about the recoil. To me, the Glock 27 is a pussycat to shoot. Would I be better off with a 9mm in such a small package?

Thanks.

To each their own. Your going to have to shoot it to tell. I shot it as fast as I could load the mags and had no problems. Others don't like it.

I thought the PM40 had too much muzzle flip. I've never really liked .40 except in a heavy steel gun. I can shoot the .45 much better. My guess is with practice, I could handle it though. I am debating between the PM9 and the new Kahr .45, but we'll see how the reviews are.

I think the Kahr has more muzzle flip than your G27. For a strictly a defense gun I think it would be great, but I would not want to take it to the range often.

BTW I agree with your comment on the G27 recoil as not much.

I guess if you're worried about recoil you might want to look at the mk40: same size, same caliber, eight extra ounces, less kick.

Dave3006:

It's ideal to have your CCW guns in the same caliber.

BUT

I have a kahr PM9 for pocket carry or ultra thin IWB carry.

When clothing permits, I rock my G33, G32, or G21.

The word at the range and from gun shop employees is that the PM9 outsells the PM40 bigtime. You don't see many used PM9s but you usually find a used PM40. It's been plagued with production issues and it is not a fun gun to shoot.

Too bad - I'd like the extra FPE but not at the expense of me not shooting it.

PM9 - no doubt!

if you use 135gr ammo it should be fairly nice. Federal hydrashock 135gr is probably the nicest commercial load for 40S&W to shoot in any 40S&W gun.

supposed to be some magtech in 135gr coming out cheap to shoot and a self defense equivalent.

otherwise its 150-165-180 majority stores having only 180 though more carrying 165.
