Which would you pick if money was no object?

PMAG M3 - some reports of problems dropping free and failing to activate bolt catch in some guns. It appears to span many manufacturers - RRA, Colt, Mega, KAC, ect...

D&H - Some people love them. Some people have reported problems. Not a current milspec supplier to US military.

UHMTG - No reported problems. Many say they are better than D&H. I have not seen an objective comparison with pictures proving their superiority.

I want to like the PMAG. But, I don't want to buy problem mags. I have several different lowers - PSA, Stag, and Superior.

Yeah, it would take something major to get me away from my PMAGs. I'll need more than stories of other people having problems that's for sure.

Pmags are simply the best made and have become the standard that all other mags compare to. I had my doubts at first but myself nor anyone I know has ever had a mag related issue with any rifle running pmags. They are superior in every perceivable way way to alloy or steel mags. Only downside is you cant use them as a backup knife in an emergency like you can the steelies...

When I put together my AR a year and a half ago or so, I bought 10 flat dark earth D&H mags to go with them. After leaving them in GI mag pouches in the trunk of a car on a summer day, the paint finish melted and they stuck together. By the time I got home, they had melted and stuck again. To my dismay, D&H would not replace or refund me. They refused to make it right in any way whatsoever. PSA, the vendor I bought them through, at least offered to send me a complimentary Pmag, even though it wasn't really their fault. I took a loss and dumped those D&H mags at a gun show, and replaced them with Pmags.

Some have said that the plain black or grey D&H mags do fine in the heat, but I'm not going to take any more chances on them, especially since I now know that they won't stand behind their products when they are defective.

The Pmags have been nothing but reliable, but one thing I don't like about them is how fat the floorplate is. They won't stack flat in mag pouches, and you can't carry 3 in a GI mag pouch like you can with other mags. I bought some Troy Battlemags, which have a flush floorplate (and come with an optional pull handle floorplate), and so far they have been every bit as reliable as the Pmags. Lots of people say the Troys are just as good as the Magpuls. Another option that has a good reputation are Lancer mags.

i've got gen2 pmags, d&h, okay industries, and colt factory. never had an issue with any of them. as far as what i prefer, it's a toss up between the okay industries issue mags and the gen2 pmags.

I have lots of Gen2 PMAGs, Colt/NHMTG, D&H black/gray and others. Good luck with the named ones. I'm getting to like the new Lancers better than PMAGs.

I have m3 mags...they drop free fine from my Armalite lower. I have yet to shoot with them, but they lock back when I pull the bolt open

The positive of the M3 PMAGS is they fit in an Hk 416/MR556, the negative is the dust cover will not fit on the bottom of the magazine for storage (not a big deal but that's the only downside I have found).

the dust cover will not fit on the bottom of the magazine for storage

This did really bother me at first, until I realized that at least it came with a dust cover, as opposed to the M2's complete lack. The primary use of the dust cover is to keep a fully loaded mags feed lips from distorting from extended fully loaded storage. It actually pushes the cartridges down slightly to take pressure off the feed lips, kinda neat. I was thinking of maybe drilling a tiny hole in the floorplate edge, and run a small braided wire, like a lanyard, from the floorplate to the dust cover for retention. That way it just flops around at the end of a tiny wire and doesnt get lost when the mags inserted.

I have PMAGs, D&H, ACS and a few others. I like them all. However, i always go to my used GI mags for 3 gun and most other shooting.

I've beat the ka ka out of PMAGs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Never had a fail to feed or misfeed once with a PMAG. Hands down easy choice for me.

BEST thing abut Pmags is they don't tear up your fingers loading and unloading. Only malfunction I had was my fault (failure to seat fully). I have several years and thousands of rounds of competition under my belt with them. Haven't broken one yet.. though I have SEEN a split Pmag.

I unloaded a UGSI mag once....after that I figured the only way I will ever unload it again is through the gun

PMAGs haven't given me any issues other than not fitting or dropping free in some guns.

I use Pmags and Lancers. I do think Lancer has taken the top spot from Magpul when it comes to magazine reliability and durability. The dual material design provides the best of both worlds and the clear body allows you to see how many rounds you have left from any angle. You don't need to look at a tiny Window.

A lot of guys I shoot with have switched over to Lancers for their mains.

Check them out. They really are a better product.

I've never messed with Lancers so I can't comment on them. I do have many mags though, magpul (all gens), colt, bushmasters, brownells, Okay Ind, Troys, etc.
In my opinion any of them will work but for sustained reliability and price point, Magpul can't be beat. Plusi love the dust covers that save your feed lips. It may not be necessary, but it makes me feel good about leaving them loaded.

I have 10+ pmags Gen2 and 3 and 10 D+H, and 5 Colt. All are G2G. Each has their advantages and work fine. I dont feel any are better, they are just different.

I have a few PMags (no M3s though). The main reason I got them was to see what all the fuss was about, and to keep defense ammo in different magazines.

My range/SHTF/whatever ammo is in USGI spec aluminum magazines. A mix of Brownells, Bushmaster, D&H, Labelle (which is now D&H?), NHMTG, Okay, etc.

All are good to go. I prefer the USGI mags for the simple fact that if I break one, they're cheap to replace. Pre-panic, most of my magazines cost about $10 shipped. Even cheaper are the well-used surplus USGI mags, which require a new spring often enough that I replace them first thing.

I have a few magazines that are crap (USA mags, orelite), that would get mixed in with the rest before I went to the range so I could practice clearing a real malfunction.
