Pocket Carry. Holsterless

Although the soft Uncle Mike's pocket holsters work pretty well for me, I don't really see a problem in going holsterless, especially with the precautions Gunmeister mentioned. After all, isn't a pocket kind of a holster? And if holstered is the only safe way, why aren't people worried about ClipDraws and Hip Grips?

I dont like anything that leaves the trigger exposed...yea I have tried the kel-tec belt clip and I still dont like it... To me there is to much of a chance for something to go wrong...I don't chastise anyone for this method of carry...It just isnt for me..And I dont recommend it to anyone..But again thats just my opinion..

Whole Hog,

A pocket isn't much of a holster -- it is not stiff or firm to any degree, and it does not fit the gun snugly...

You are right -- people carry without holsters. I don't like it or recommend it -- but to each his own.

If you are going to carry without a holster, going with a gun with a DA gun with a manual safety or carrying without a round in the chamber is probably best. A j-frame may be o.k. given the weight and length of the DA pull I suppose.

Holsters serve such a valuable purpose -- I am not sure why anyone would go without. I have tried belt clips and such just to understand why they are so great -- and have always found a holster to be more stable, secure and comfortable.

I carried a P32, S&W 649 in a UM pocket holster for about 1.5 years.

I never went holsterless since i knew a retired police lieutenant who carried a .25 Beretta SA for several years in his pocket, then one day the safety wiped off, and he shot himself in the thigh (grazing wound). He barely missed hitting "the boys". He never ever ever again carried holsterless. I learned by default. :)

I'm just curious to know if some of you folks out there carry unholstered in your pocket."

I have a very good friend who used to carry that way. He has since realized how stupid that practice is and now uses a holster.:)

To each.....his own

Many of you would consider the way I carry unsafe, but 10 years and never any problem says otherwise. Gunmeister if your method works for you then I say good on ya mate!
