Pocket carry

...(beautiful Colt!!!) I've carried a M60 bobbed for years...till I found a 649...I gotta have stainless cause I work hot and sweaty...gotta blow the lint out every few days...but the gun's heavy enough to practice comfortably, so I'm good with it...and I have the option of cocking for a long shot...seldom do...don't like the recoil of the lighter metals...

Here's another vote for a S&W Centennial. I have one in stainless, and chambered for .357 Magnum. I just got back from walk, and the Smith, along with a HKS speedloader with 5 more .357's, went with me.

I'm not sure how comfortable pocket carry, in terms of front jeans pocket, would be, as I think the front edge of the cylinder would wear through the thin pocket material pretty quickly and would start working on your leg. Maybe a pocket holster would be cool.

However, it's perfect to drop into a coat or jacket pocket. As a matter of fact, the Centennial is probably the only revolver that could be reliably fired from INSIDE the pocket - but you'd probably set your clothes on fire!

Today I happened to carry it in a paddle holster that, IIRC, I bought years ago from Dillon Precision.

When I am showing off my manly man legs :) (shorts and tshirt) I carry my KelTecP11 w/AccuLaser in a UncleMikes pocket holster. Lil KelTec has never failed to go boom and is very accurate and reliable.

Either a bersa 380 or a taurus 605.

Both fit nice in rfp of wrangler jeans.

A lint hint; Besides cleaning your pockets every morning. I use a small paint brush or an old shaving cream brush to take the smootz ( highly technical term for dust) off the weapon.
I have the same "pocket" carry.

If I can wear a sweater, I can have my H&K with me too.

It's a hair thicker than the Bersa, but it is a full 9mm.

For strictly pocket carry it is hard to beat a J-frame model 642 or 638. Even though I love my Ruger LCR and find it to carry well in the pocket also, the S&W'S are IMO still the kings of the pocket revolvers due to their slightly smaller dimensions.

geronimo509: The M&P 340 has its own thread

that will probably contribute to your knowledge.

It starts here, and it typically covers all issues about the M&P 340 and other j-frame Scandiums.

If weight is not a problem then any steel J-frame will do good. I try not to pockect carry too much but sometimes it the best way like just running out to the store slip it in the pocket and out the door. With me the weight does bother me so it the airweights for me the 642 works just fine for me not too heavy or too light like some of the scandiums are for me anyway.

be safe

I did a search but I didn't get the results I was looking for.

So, what is the best revolver for front pocket carry? Weight is not an issue. I used to carry my MK9 in my front pocket but it became unreliable when it was dirty with pocket lint. (Works flawless when it is clean and lubed since I got some new springs).

Another factor for me is that it is not bigger than the Kahr MK9.

Thanks
Get a quality pocket holster, that well end the lint issue. Normally I carry a 640, some times a m32.

If I'm dress really light I well use a Colt vest pocket or a Walther Model 9, those are about as small as you can get other than a NAA.

For watch pockets....:D

[QUOTEAs I almost always mention when discussing pocket guns, keep in mind that while pocket carry excels in some circumstances, if you find yourself in a fight at contact distance, before you can get your hand in your pocket, it can be VERY difficult to get the hand into that pocket, and if bent at the waist or hips, VERY difficult to get that hand, with the gun in it, back out of that pocket. Bad guys don't normally broadcast their intentions from a distance, and they will not be likely to willingly let you reach into your pocket. I use pocket carry as a means to tote one of multiple weapons. At the very least, train to use empty-hand methods to create the distance you will need to access your pocket gun.[/QUOTE ]

Great bit of info above. Pocket carry while my preferred means of conveyance at the moment, is limiting in other circumstances. I keep a clip on holster from Desantis in my car and wear it on my non-dominant side (cross draw as I'm lefty) when driving, especially at night. I believe that you can't go wrong with the 340.

Best pocket carry 38 snubbie

The S&W 642 has no exterior hammer, weighs in at 15 oz., and is highly concealable with any pocket holster.
I prefer the Federal 110 gr. SJHP hydra-shok rounds for personal defense, as these rounds shoot cleanly through chamber and you won't compromise accuracy when using +P loads which can cause the gun to "jump" in your hand, especially in a high stress defensive situation.

Just installed the S&W factory standard size grips and the snubbie is still highly concealable in my pocket. The additional rubber makes the gun easier to handle, and IMO more accurate for me.
