Anyone have any pocket holster recommendations? Do you prefer square or round cut holsters?

I know of Uncle Mikes, which tend to be square cut, I alos know of I believe his name is Mika...Mika's pocket holster.

I'd prefer synthetic material such as nylon to prevent moisture from getting all over the gun...

summers coming....

I've carried a S&W 642 in the same Kramer Horsehide pocket holster, pretty much daily, for about 6 yrs now here in GA. I drip serious sweat in the summer humidity, but my holster is still in great shape. Never had a problem with the leather getting wet. Breaks up the outline well.

I've used a pocket holster for the past 3 years made by Lou Alessi. Very thin and high quality, like my other Alessi holsters. For the utmost in concealment I prefer a good belly band, but the pocket job is a good alternative.

I've carried a Taurus .38 in a Galco pocket holster for years. This holster has PH122 stamped on the web, so I suppose that's the model number.

There are some jeans with pockets not deep enough to fully conceal the butt. That's when a tee shirt comes in pretty handy.

Pocket carry is my most frequent method...it's the easiest and the little Taurus is very light. In fact, it's in my pocket as I type this.
I do prefer to carry a larger (Glock 19) handgun, but I must admit, this little snubbie travels with me most often.

I've got a Desantis Nemesis for my Taurus 605, but it doesn't work well with jeans. It does a decent job of breaking up the outline of the gun, but feels like I've got a pair of socks in my pocket. After doing a bit of pocket holster shopping, I found a decent looking kydex model for a decent price, but they don't make it to fit my 605.

I decided to order some kydex and attempt to make my own.

I'm not entirely happy with my first attempt, but it's fairly close to what I'm looking for. Actually, I think it would've been fine if I hadn't tried to rivet it closed. Some sort of contact cement woul've worked a lot better, I believe.

I'll be starting on version #2 some time this week...

Pocket Holster

I have used the Mika's leather pocket holster for over 1 year and even in the summer it is not a problem, also the price is right and the service is great.

I have J-Frame pocket holsters made by Don Hume and Alessi - but for some reason the much cheaper Uncle Mikes size 3 Sidekick pocket holster is the one I always use.

Are the Taurus 85 and 605 the same physical size?

I'm not sure...

They share the same grip, but I believe the 605's cylinder may be a bit longer than the 85's. I've never had the oppotunity to compare them side-by-side, though.

Alduro: to answer your question...

Yes the model 85 and 605 are both built on the same frame. As a matter of fact, I took the longer grips off my 605 and put on the shorter ones from the 85. Perfect fit. Both guns fit into my Uncle Mike's size 3 pocket holster exactly the same.
