Hi Everyone:

Have a few autos but carry my Kel-tec the most, because I can use my pocket holster. If you are in my situation how do you carry in a car? I assume you get my drift - a pistol in a pocket while in a car is worthless. I live in Ohio - while driving in a car - firearm must be holstered on person or in a locked container.

Thank you

Don't know about Kel-Tecs but for a J-frame I keep the gun in my pocket but poke the grip out so it's easy to access while seated and buckled in. When exiting the car I make sure I push the gun back all the way in my pocket in the same motion as when putting one foot on the ground and starting to assume a standing position.

Access to a pocket-holstered gun while seated is very slow. Think about what you have to do to get your wallet out at a tollbooth or something. Then imagine doing it with a gun pointed at you, a mob trying to break your windows or turn your car over, etc. :uhoh:

Keep a jacket in the car and transfer to that to satisfy the law or keep a second holster in the car, strong side or ankle, that you can draw from while sitting. Also...
In a car, your priority should be escape and evade, not attack and advance.

I pocket carry a 642. As someone said above, I position the grip out of the pocket so I can get to it if I need it. When I get out of the truck it falls back into my pocket.

In SC I don't have to have the firearm on me. What I do is put it in the console, or in the other car the door pocket. Both legal in my state, I think, but don't really care.

I do not expect to have to use it as I can escape while the car is running. When the car/truck stops, and I am getting out I put it back in my holster.

If I get jambed up at a stoplight and someone was foolish enough to try and carjack me the firearm is within easy reach.
